Yo, ho! Yo, ho! A pirate's life for Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), recent recipient of three 2017 Helen Hayes Awards. After a successful run of the delightfully silly, swashbuckling fall musical, How I Became A Pirate- now extended through October 29th, Adventure is offering the opportunity for pirate lovers everywhere to take the ship's wheel and commandeer the set in a special event. As part of the final performance on October 29, 2017 at 4:30pm, Adventure Theatre MTC will serve refreshments after the show as the audience gets to play on the stage for the first time ever in a fun event for the entire family.

How I Became A Pirate, based on the book by Melinda Long and directed by real-life swashbuckler Jenny Male, is "laugh out loud funny" (DCTheatreScene.com) with a young boy coming to grips with his new baby sister through the imaginary adventure he takes on a pirate ship. Parents agree that the enthusiasm of the cast while engaging the audience in a delightful musical on a magical stage, is the real take-away from the show's experience.

Described by Our-Kids.com as the "ultimate dream playset," Adventure Theatre MTC's set designed by Samina Vieth is the artistic vision of a child's pirate-ship imagination. With a climbing wall, slide, crow's nest, swinging ropes, and more, this set will be sure to please even the youngest of aspiring pirates.

Adventure Theatre MTC's Artistic Director, Michael J. Bobbitt, says of the event, "Do you know how many times over my tenure children have run up on the stage to play after the show? We're finally excited to be able to offer them the opportunity to live the dream and reenact what they just saw on the stage. See Theatre. Be Theatre. That's our motto."

How I Became A Pirate is recommended for all ages. Tickets are $35 each with this special event pricing. All performances will take place at Adventure Theatre MTC, 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo, MD, 20812 in the historic Glen Echo Park.
