 Faith, family and frosting collide in The Cake, a touching and timely play by Tony-nominated playwright Bekah Brunstetter, who received the nomination this year for The Notebook on Broadway. Opening at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (WICA) on October 11, The Cake is based loosely on the Supreme Court case against the baker who refused to bake a wedding cake for a same sex couple.

All the charm, wisdom and joy of the E.B. White classic are captured in this delightful and fast-paced stage adaptation. The many adventures—both big and small—of Stuart Little are brought to life with laughter and fun!

 The Boston Civic Symphony kicks off its 100th season with a concert that presents works by Schubert and Strauss, two composers whose music has been foundational to the orchestra’s success. 

The Mulberry Tree, a new play set in Palestine by Hanna Eady and Edward Mast, directed by Alexandra Aron, will have its world premiere at La MaMa ETC this month. Check out all new rehearsal photos here!

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of “Witch,” offering a new take on bargaining with the devil, written by Jen Silverman, on Monday, October 7, at 7 p.m.  Playwright Silverman is currently represented on Broadway with their new comedy, “The Roommate,” starring Patti LuPone and Mia Farrow.

The MAC Players at the Middletown Arts Center will present INTO THE WOODS over two weekends, October 18–20 and October 25–27, 2024.

Mosaic Theater Company will present the world premiere of The Art of Care, a world premiere theatrical event exploring how we care for, and are cared for by, others. Conceived and directed by Derek Goldman, performances run October 31 to November 24, 2024, at the Atlas Performing Arts Center.

The Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave., will host a free Dia de los Muertos Celebration on Saturday November 2, beginning at 6 pm. 

 In a world where heroes rise, and legends are born, the Anchorage Symphony embarks on a spectacular journey of epic film scores and heroic adventures with Hollywood Heroes on Saturday, October 19th, at 7:30 pm in the Atwood Concert Hall.

Visceral Dance Chicago - a contemporary dance company that is constantly pursuing a deeper focus of intent that continues to challenge audience expectations – will host its Fall Engagement – November 21 - 23, 2024 at 7:30p.m., November 24, 2024 at 2:00p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.

 José Navas returns to Danse Danse to present his latest solo, AVES, from October 22 to 26 at Place des Arts’ Cinquième Salle.

Rehearsals are underway for Jessica Goldberg’s Babe, with  Marisa Tomei, Arliss Howard and Gracie McGraw. Directed by Scott Elliott and featuring original music by BETTY, Babe begins performances October 29 in advance of Official Opening Night on Wednesday, November 20.  Check out rehearsal photos here!

Sarah Wertheimer, the executive director of Embracing Our Differences, recently announced that the organization has received a $50,000 Empowering Arts Grant Award made possible through the Charlotte Ellis Charitable Fund at Gulf Coast Community Foundation.

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts will present “Awareness: Two Stories, One Powerful Message” which showcases two compelling performances wrapped up in one evening, which highlights the resilience and strength of those affected by breast cancer.

After a successful Modern Works Festival kicked off the season, Urbanite Theatre’s eleventh season is about to go into full swing with the regional premiere of JENNIFER, WHO IS LEAVING, opening on October 18th. We are thrilled to be presenting this work by the accomplished playwright Morgan Gould, a recent graduate of the prestigious Lila Acheson Wallace Playwriting Fellowship Program at Juilliard.

TheaterWorks Hartford, under the artistic direction of Rob Ruggiero and Managing Director Jeff Griffin, will participate in the Greater Hartford Arts Council’s Theater Week, a two-week event that makes theater more accessible to all, promotes the excellence of local theatrical productions, and builds a broader, more diverse audience for the arts in Greater Hartford.

Applications are now being accepted for the fourth annual Broadway Across America (BAA) • BTC Regional Apprenticeship program through October 18th.  This nationwide, educational paid apprenticeship takes place over 14 weeks in the spring of 2025 and is offered to applicants with a demonstrated passion to increase the involvement of those that have been historically underrepresented in American Theater.
