As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, opera star Patrice Munsel, died last Thursday in her New York Adirondacks home after a brief illness. She was 91.

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts will feature a special three-month pop-up TKTS residency at the David Rubenstein Atrium's Zucker Box Office. Lincoln Center Theater's new production of William Finn and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical Falsettos will begin previews Thursday, September 29, and run for 14 weeks only at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48 Street). Opening night will be Thursday, October 27. The company will include Anthony Rosenthal (as Jason), Tracie Thoms(as Dr. Charlotte), Brandon Uranowitz (as Mendel), Betsy Wolfe (as Cordelia), Stephanie J. Block(as Trina), Christian Borle (as Marvin), and Andrew Rannells (as Whizzer).

Based upon the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress began performances on March 25 and opened April 24 at Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street). As BroadwayWorld sadly reported earlier this week, Marni Nixon, perhaps best known for dubbing the singing voices of the leading actresses in films, including THE KING AND I, WEST SIDE STORY and MY FAIR LADY, passed away from breast cancer on July 24th. She was 86.

Direct from London and an international tour, Complicite's acclaimed production of The Encounter, conceived, directed and performed by Simon McBurney, will play a limited engagement at Broadway's John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), opening on Thursday, September 29 and closing on January 8 2017. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, on the heels of winning four Tony Awards including Best Play,The Humans will move into Broadway's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street) to extend its limited run. The Humans will play its first performance in its new home on Tuesday, August 9. It played its final performance at the Helen Hayes Theatre on July 24, and is in the midst of a two-week hiatus to allow for the move. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) just hosted its 6th Annual GenR Summer Party. GenR, short for Generation Rescue, is a group of young and influential humanitarians who have joined forces with the IRC to help people affected by crisis to survive and rebuild their lives. Proceeds from this event support the IRC's critical humanitarian work.
