Roundabout Theatre Company' new Broadway production of The Big Knife by Clifford Odets, will star Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Bobby Cannavale and directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes. The Big Knife will begin previews on March 22, 2013 and open officially on April 16, 2013 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd Street). Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that its production of the world premiere of Jesse Eisenberg's The Revisionist, starring Eisenberg and Vanessa Redgrave, and directed by Kip Fagan, will extend for three weeks though Sunday, April 21, at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street. The Oscar-winning and Tony-nominated actress Estelle Parsons was honored at La Mama's annual benefit fundraiser, along with longtime La MaMa board member Peter Swords on February 27, 2013 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St.). Ms. Parsons, who appeared last fall at La MaMa in Marco Calvani's play THINGS OF THIS WORLD directed by Neil LaBute, and Mr. Swords, who served as a member of the La MaMa Board for 25 years, wascelebrated at the event by personal and video tributes from playwrights Warren Leight and Mr. LaBute. The Broadway Premiere of Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, which comes on the heels of its sold-out run at Lincoln Center, will play a 17-week strictly limited Broadway engagement, set to begin performances on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Broadway's Golden Theatre. Award-winning stage and screen actress Fiona Shaw will return to the New York stage this spring with The Testament of Mary, by the acclaimed author Colm Toibin, directed by Deborah Warner. The production will begin previews on Tuesday, March 26, and open on Monday, April 22 for a twelve-week limited engagement through Sunday, June 16 at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48 Street.) The production will not only mark the New York theatrical debut for the multi-award winning novelist but will also be the first collaboration between Fiona Shaw and Deborah Warner to premiere on this side of the Atlantic. Last week, the producers of the Broadway production of Orphans, Lyle Kessler's play, directed by Daniel Sullivan, announced that Ben Foster will join the cast immediately in the role of 'Treat' replacing Shia LeBeouf. The Pulitzer Prize and OBIE Award-winning Theatre for the New City (TNC) held its 10th Annual LOVE 'N' COURAGE benefit gala last night, February 25, 2013 at the National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South in Manhattan), this year honoring award-winning actor and playwright Charles Busch. Hosts for LOVE 'N' COURAGE were composer and singer Phoebe Legere and playwright/filmmaker Matt Morillo ('Maid of Honor'). The performers at this year's show included Mr. Busch, The Love Show, dancer/choreographer Kitty Lunn and Infinity Dance, juggler supreme John Grimaldi, Carol Freeman, Luba Mason, KT Sullivan, Tammy Grimes, Drew Pulver, Mark Marcante and Crystal Field.
