A slew of stars came out last night to the Cafe Carlyle to bid farewell to the legendary Elaine Stritch, who began her last New York run. Her new show, Elaine Stritch at the Carlyle: Movin' Over and Out, a freeform evening of story and song, will play for one week only.

The Memory Show, presented by the Transport Group Theatre Company, will play off-Broadway at The Duke on 42nd Street, 229 West 42nd Street, beginning Tuesday, April 16th, 2013 at 7PM, opening Tuesday, April 30th, 2013 at 7PM and running through Saturday May 18th, 2013 at 8PM. BBC News reports that English actor of stage, film and television, Richard Griffiths has died at age 65 after complications from recent heart surgery. The actor was best known for his portrayal of Vernon Dursley in the Harry Potter film franchise and as Unchle Monty in 'Withnail and I.' For BWW's full obituary, click here.

Today, we're featuring Fred Gwynne circa 1984. teve Zissou, an appearance on Arrested Development and more. Gwynne was best known for his roles in the 1960s sitcoms Car 54, Where Are You? and The Munsters, as well as his later roles in Pet Sematary and My Cousin Vinny. In 1974, he appeared in the role of Big Daddy Pollitt in the Broadway revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Elizabeth Ashley, Keir Dullea and Kate Reid. In 1975 he played the Stage Manager in Our Town at the American Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford, Connecticut. He returned to Broadway in 1976 as Colonel J. C. Kinkaid in two parts of A Texas Trilogy.

Newsies, the hit Tony Award-winning musical celebrated its first year on Broadway with its entire creative team and Mauro Castano from Carlo's Bakery and TLC's 'Cake Boss,' who created a one of a kind cake for the special occasion.

Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, with a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, Newsies is directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, who won a 2012 Tony Award for his work.
