I wait for the day when people stop asking if someone is an [actor/singer/dancer] first. This question permeates college audition waiting rooms as auditionees eagerly attempt to strike conversation with each other.

Many musical theatre enthusiasts already own their favorite must haves, whether it be their rep binder, their coveted Laducas, or a go to audition outfit, but beyond those standard items, the musical theatre enthusiast checklist tends to become less obvious.

With this year's college audition season in full swing, I thought it was incredibly important to share why I chose Syracuse University for BFA in Musical Theater.

In a typical, non-pandemic year, incoming freshmen frantically begin making packing lists, getting room assignments, and preparing for their next big adventure on campus.

With the growing support for the Black Lives Matter movement, actors and actresses have taken to their platforms to share vital resources and stories to shed light on the systemic problems at hand.

I hope that we can emerge seeing justice and that the ones we endowed with trust beforehand, are still worthy of said trust in the end.
