Student Blogger: Jake Esparza

Jake Esparza is an independent theatre journalist based in Southern California. He was born and raised in San Diego, where he quickly developed a deep passion for the performing arts. At 18 years of age, he has become a seasoned theatergoer, regularly attending shows in SoCal, New York City, and internationally since 2018.

In addition to writing and publishing theatre-related articles and reviews since 2024, Jake is also a performer himself. He has consistently performed in theatrical productions since the age of seven, including school, local, and community theatre. In 2023, Jake participated in Season 4 of BroadwayWorld's Next On Stage and placed in the top 15 nationwide.

Jake currently lives in Los Angeles where he is studying marketing management and musical theatre at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona as a first-year sophomore. After completing his degree, he aspires to lead a successful career in the theatre industry, whether that's onstage, behind the scenes, on the business side, or as a professional theatre critic.
