The age old question that manifests as every college senior's sleep paralysis demon. The despicable conversation starter students dodge from family members during the holidays, afraid they’ll get hit in the face with a proverbial cinder block of truth. The uninvited elephant in the classroom cosplaying as a new student on your first day of senior year, reminding you the time to raise your hand is running out. The saying that haunts every human being at the brink of change…It’s funny how just two little words hold the weight of the world and could determine a lifetime, if you let them: what's next?

It was the end of my sophomore year in college, what we not-so-jokingly called “Sophomore Slaughter,” when I experienced burnout for the first time. I thought anxiety was bad, but this? Oh, this was a whole new level. Read my blog to learn about my experience with burnout and some tips & tricks to help beat it!

This summer, I spent six weeks in Florence, Italy studying Commedia dell’Arte with NYU Grad Acting Faculty. We studied verbatim theatre, Shakespeare, mask-making, neutral and character mask, and of course, Commedia dell’Arte. The program culminated in a devised and improvised final performance based on Molière’s text featuring popular songs by Billie Eilish, Fleetwood Mac, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Hi there! Let me introduce myself! My name is Cat Boynton and I'm a Senior at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts studying Drama in the New Studio on Broadway (NSB). I also double-major in Journalism and double-minor in Producing and the Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology.
