So, I’ve been making smaller ‘baby’ bears at a lower price point.” Most recently, her WAITRESS-inspired “Baby Jenna Bear” has been a hit. A TikTok detailing how they are made just surpassed 34K views. D’Angelo also makes custom requests. 

Brooks Elms, filmmaker and WGA screenwriter, just sold a script to be executive produced by Brad Peyton (SAN ANDREAS). He's rewriting a script by an Oscar-winning writer. And, in the last year, he's also fallen deeply in love with helping other writers.

What began as a passion project for Pratt is now in post-production, with a release set for this summer 2021 and pre-screenings at Fox Studios starting next month.

Dr. Errik Hood, Music Assistant Professor of Vocal Performance at NYU Steinhardt, is creating a new breed of virtual productions. Or rather, a new feed. 

Every time I see a new show, or listen to a new soundtrack, it automatically is added to a sort of “database” in my brain. In a situation where I’m struggling to interpret emotions, I can search this database and basically “google” it. 

It began with different characters, and then she saw the Bridgerton musical created by Abigail Barlow. “After seeing that, I thought, ‘what would happen if Broadway stars sing this music? What would it sound like?” She says, “and then, I thought, ‘what would happen if Broadway Stars were in shows they would never be in?’”

Maggie Bera, founder of Actor Aesthetic and creator of the viral Tik Tok sensation “Broadway Stars in Shows They Were Definitely Not In”, is no stranger to performing.

“But,” she says hopefully, “with the re-spark of the Black Lives Matter movement, I have been able to find my voice in theatre, as well as socially.” “We still have so much work to do.” she continues. “And there are so many performers, as well as organizations, putting in the work for things to change; to push for equity on and off the stage.”

If there’s one thing “You Oughta Know”, it’s the epitome of professionalism, learning, and fun: Broadway Workshop. 

The creative team of the documentary Bullets to Books - Andy Truschinski, Gail Prensky, and Sean MacLaughlin - want you to know the story of Jok Abraham Thon and his mission of peace in South Sudan.

For this installment, I spoke to Martín Acuña, host of BACKSTAGE TALK podcast (@backstagetalkpod on Instagram), about his story and how he got involved with theatre.

'I always had a hard time explaining why I have such a strong attraction to theatre. My default answer, the one that everyone most enjoys hearing, was: 'because I want to inspire others.' It's true, of course, but it's not The Real Answer. The Real Answer, quite simply is, 'because there's no nonsense - everything is right there, as it is.'

“Sometimes you just need a smile. I can’t fix the situation we’re in. But sometimes you just have to sit in the mess with people, and just be there. And it makes all the difference.”

The folks at Broadway Workshop were gracious enough to invite me back to another “Broadway Day”. This time, it was a little different from sugar, butter, and dancing to a Sara Bareilles lyrical and melodic masterpiece. The bar was already set high from my experience at their WAITRESS Day; I wondered whether my expectations would be met a second time.

“Play for the version of you that you left behind,” she says.
