Steve Leary Steve Leary is a contributing freelance writer for Stage Door Chicago. He holds a B.A. from Elmhurst College and has a diverse background that includes editing two nationally circulated fitness magazines and editing physician publications. He has experience as a judge in the NHSA speech and drama statewide competitions, and has performed on stage in local productions.
Steve studied music and voice at Elmhurst while performing with an all-original indie rock/pop band. He has performed at different venues in Chicago, and pops up in Cabaret clubs when he is able. Steve has also worked as a studio engineer in the south suburbs with various local gospel choirs, bands and vocalists.
As the President of New Pulse Ltd., Steve has run a consulting business that incorporates computer technology, project management, implementation and business development for companies, medical facilities, professional offices, and individuals in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
Most people who know Steve believe that he is part cat as he has lived many lives and has a unique affinity with them. Steve, however, does not eat fish





Theatre at the Center:Benefit for Children Affected by Flood

In an effort to help children in the area most devastated by the recent flooding, Munster's Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road, will host a special free performance of their current Theatre for Young Audiences production, Max & Ruby. The benefit performance for these children from surrounding schools, as identified by Munster Town Manager Tom DiGiulio, will take place on October 16 at 11:15 a.m. Max & Ruby is a new musical based on the series of books by Rosemary Wells and the popular television program on Nick Jr. and Noggin. Theatre at the Center's Theatre for Young Audiences is recognized for bringing exciting, fun and educational productions to the stage. The energetic and hilarious production of Max & Ruby will run October 16 through October 18.

The production runs October 15- December 7, 2008 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, in association with Michigan Opera Theatre (MOT), presents the Chicago premiere of Margaret Garner, a new American opera based on one of the most significant and controversial fugitive slave stories in pre-Civil War America. The opera will be directed by Kenny Leon, whose recent Broadway credits include the Tony Award-winning A Raisin in the Sun; Gem of the Ocean and Radio Golf. Margaret Garner features music by Grammy Award-winning composer Richard Danielpour and a libretto by Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Toni Morrison, a novelist noted for her poetically charged and richly expressive depictions of the African American experience.
