SCOTT MILLER is the artistic director of New Line Theatre and has been directing and performing in musicals since 1981. His favorite projects include Bat Boy, Hair, Assassins, The Cradle Will Rock, A New Brain, The Rocky Horror Show, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Robber Bridegroom, Sunday in the Park with George, Songs for a New World, and Floyd Collins. He has written the book, music, and lyrics for nine musicals, as well as two non-musical plays, and they have all been produced. His play Head Games has enjoyed successful runs in St. Louis, Los Angeles, London, and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. Scott has written four books on musical theatre, From Assassins to West Side Story, Deconstructing Harold Hill, Rebels with Applause, and Let the Sun Shine In: The Genius of HAIR. His newest book, Strike Up the Band: A New History of Musical Theatre, will be released in fall 2006. Scott is a graduate of Harvard University, he writes for local publications and national theatre magazines, and he has composed music for film, television and radio.
