Variety reports that HBO Max has ordered ten episodes of an upcoming adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's best-selling novel 'Americanah' from Lupita Nyong'o and Danai Gurira. Nyong'o will star, with Gurira showrunning and writing the pilot.

Today the Toronto International Film Festival ® announced the winner of the 2019 Toronto Platform Prize at a reception at the Bisha Hotel, hosted by Joana Vicente, TIFF's Executive Director and Co-Head. Pietro Marcello's Martin Eden was chosen as the winner of the $20,000 CAD prize by the jury, which is comprised of award-winning filmmaker Athina Rachel Tsangari, Berlinale Artistic Director Carlo Chatrian, and international film critic Jessica Kiang.

Jonathan Parrish, executive director of the Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra (HSO) since 2013, has accepted the executive director position with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra beginning in December. Parrish will continue to serve through mid-November as the HSO conducts a national search for his replacement.

Featuring a sizeable crew of musical collaborators, and drawing on Washington's curlicued harmonies and John Glyn's multiple saxes, it is a music that invites slippery categorisation. Unhappy Fly draw on a deracinated studio experience combined with impulsive tune-smithing to create an album that scoops up the noisy dogmas of the past and relocates them to the far side of the 5th dimension.
