Matthew Marsh to Play New Concept Album at Joe's Pub, 3/1February 15, 2013Matthew Marsh, the New York based composer and vocalist, is all geared up with his band to release his album Detroit ReZoning. Two years in the works, the album is an ode to the city of Detroit from an “Ex-suburbanite,” seen through the lens of de-urbanization and social justice. Marsh and his 14-piece band will perform the album on March 1 st at 11:30pm at Joe?s Pub at the historic Public Theater, one of New York City?s most celebrated venues for emerging and established performance artists. This will only be the third performance of these songs, the second taking place in Plymouth, MI summer of 2012.

The New School for Drama Introduces BFA in Dramatic ArtsFebruary 14, 2013-The New School for Drama has announced a new Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dramatic Arts, which will launch in fall 2013. Drawing on The New School's tradition of progressive artistic inquiry and civic engagement, the BFA is a pre-professional degree that emphasizes collaborative studio work and hands-on experience with working theater artists in New York City. Led by playwright and Artistic Director Jon Robin Baitz (Other Desert Cities), the BFA is guided by an Advisory Board the includes include Sarah Jessica Parker, director Doug Hughes, playwright John Guare, and 24 Hour Plays creator Tina Fallon. The Advisory Board will provide artistic, professional and fundraising support to the program.

Harlem Stage Presents QUINTESSENCE: THE HEALING VOICES OF HAITI, 3/8-3/9February 14, 2013Haitian singer Emeline Michel celebrates the release of her latest CD, Quintessence, which has been five years in the making, with a glorious display of Creole soul March 8 and 9 at Harlem Stage. Two Haitian writers of note featured on the new recording will perform alongside Michel: novelist Edwidge Danticat and legendary storyteller Jean-Claude Martineau will read their poetry and recite stories about the power of their nation's spirit, backed by a 12-piece band. Classically-trained Haitian tenor James Germain also shares the spotlight, displaying fresh and unexpected aspects of Haiti's diverse culture.

Fat Joe Gives Special Fat Tuesday Performance at PURE NightclubFebruary 13, 2013Last night PURE Nightclub inside Caesars Palace welcomed hip-hop artist Fat Joe as he put on a special Fat Tuesday performance playing for an unforgettable Mardi Gras bash. Arriving around 1 a.m. the multi-platinum rapper joined by his entourage, took his place at his VIP booth on the main stage. Upon arrival Fat Joe immediately became center of attention as resident DJ Shift got on the mic and announced his presence. Shortly before his performance the rap master took time to meet and take photos with admiring fans from a nearby table.

Making Out boasts a monthly residency at the Upstairs Gallery, every third Wednesday of the month, where is it has set box office and attendance records, and is one of the theatre's most popular shows, consistently performing to standing room only crowds. The show is hosted by Wes Perry, a writer and performer who, with the help of a live band, uses his background in improvisation and sketch to create solo pieces that blend storytelling and music in a way that is original, honest, and absurd.
