What did our critic think of EXIT, PURSUED BY A BEAR at Convergence-continuum? Perhaps one of the most famous, or infamous of Shakespeare’s stage directions, ‘Exit, pursued by a bear’ in Act III of THE WINTER’S TALE, sees Antigonus meet death in the most unlikely of ways: at the hands – or rather the claws – of a bear.

Review: THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES at Porthouse
July 5, 2023

What did our critic think of THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES at Porthouse? It’s summer, a time of year in Northeastern Ohio for escapist activities.  This is the only logical reason that Porthouse would pick a show like Roger Bean’s jukebox musical THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES.

What did our critic think of THE SHOW THAT GOES WRONG at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre? In 1923 there was THE TORCHBEARERS.  In 1982 the stage was filled with hysterical disasters during NOISES OFF.  Now there is THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, the zany Laurence Olivier Award winner.

Review: WALKING TO BUCHENWALD at Convergence-continuum
June 5, 2023

What did our critic think of WALKING TO BUCHENWALD at Convergence-continuum? At the start of the opening night of BUCKENWALD, it appeared that no matter the quality of the script the audience was in for a rough night.  Lighting guffaws, a confusing scene with actors speaking directly to the audience, but talking to other actors seemingly miles apart, with no visual means of the messages being conveyed.  Not a healthy beginning.

Review: DEAR EVAN HANSEN at Connor Palace
May 17, 2023

Dear Evan Hansen at Connor Palace is a top-ranking musical drama that highlights social anxiety, suicide, family angst, and teenage drug addiction. Based on real-life incidents, it explores the complexities of mental health and societal investigation. With a pop-contemporary musical theatre sound, it is a must-see musical for those interested in boundary-pushing storytelling.
