Nicole Rosky

Nicole is the Editor-in-Chief of BroadwayWorld, where she began her journey as an intern in 2010. As BroadwayWorld's Senior Managing Editor, a role she took on in 2012, she covered over a decade's-worth of theatre and live entertainment in New York City and around the world. Throughout her time with BroadwayWorld, Nicole has worked extensively with the photo and video team, producing (and sometimes editing) a great deal of the site's original programming, including Backstage with Richard Ridge, Dance Captain Dance Attack, Next on Stage, Kid Critics, and Teen Critics, just to name a few. Originally from outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she is a proud graduate of Penn State University's College of Communications. Nicole currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where she gets to enjoy far more great theatre than she ever dreamed. Her first great role was "Billy Flynn" in her fourth grade musical theatre class. Oh, how far she has come!

  • Tony Nominee Reactions - I have had the pleasure of covering every Tony Awards season since 2011 and one of my favorite parts is hearing from the nominees just moments after they find out that they ARE nominees.
  • Theatre Queens - When I'm not at a Broadway show, you'll find me at home, catching up on the latest episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race. I've had a blast chatting with many of the queens who call theatre their first love.
  • Broadway Jukebox - I love a good playlist and I find myself making them OFTEN. I've curated over 100 musical theatre playlists for BroadwayWorld (my personal favorite is "Female Anthems of Broadway"). Give them a listen and follow BroadwayWorld on Spotify to find out what I come up with next!
  • Broadway By Design - I created this series after realizing how little information is shared about the theatrical design process and it has become one of my favorite ongoing features.

The acclaimed Broadway production of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Emily Man has cancelled its previously announced summer extension, and will now take its final Broadway bow on its original closing date- July 22. BroadwayWorld has learned that the show might be moving to London, aiming for a Fall 2012 opening.

The National Theatre will present the fourth season of National Theatre Live (NT Live), a successful initiative to broadcast live performances from the National's stages to cinemas worldwide. Since its first season, which began in June 2009 with the acclaimed production of Phedre starring Helen Mirren, over 750,000 people have now experienced the National's work on movie screens worldwide.

Two-time Tony Award nominee André De Shields, who created the title role in the hit Broadway musical THE WIZ, has just returned from Chittenango, New York where he was a Special Guest of Honor at the 34th Annual OZ-Stravaganza weekend! This lovely village just outside Syracuse, New York is the birthplace of L. Frank Baum who is best known for writing The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which became the classic 1939 MGM film starring Judy Garland.

Second Stage Theatre will continue the 10th anniversary of its Uptown Series with the world premiere of Warrior Class, written by Kenneth Lin and directed by Evan Cabnet. Warrior Class stars Louis Ozawa Changchien (The Bourne Legacy), Katharine Powell (The Farnsworth Invention) and David Rasche (Speed the Plough). Previews begin on July 11th and opening night is Monday, July 23rd.

According to Indie Wire, Broadway favorite Cheyenne Jackson is currently in talks to star in Steven Soderbergh's upcoming 'Behind The Candelabra' film about the life of Liberace. Jackson would join previously announced Academy Award(R) winners Michael Douglas ('Wall Street,' 'Traffic,' 'Solitary Man') and Matt Damon ('Contagion,' 'Ocean's Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen,' 'Invictus'). Also in negotiationas are Rob Lowe and Boyd Holbrook.

At the end of May, theatre fans were treated to an all new trailer for the highly-anticipated LES MIS film, dominated by Anne Hathaway's rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream' from her role as Fantine. Now Hathaway is speaking out about what is was like to play the iconic role. On singing 'I Dreamed a Dream,' she told NY Magazine: 'I apparently looked like I was ready to face the guillotines. They just kept telling me and the cast to ignore the iconic nature of Les Miz and of the song. I had to sing it as if it had never been sung or heard before.'

On June 11, Anthony Rapp (Rent) guest starred in special reading of 'The Pride' by Alexi Kaye Campbell, as part of afundraising initiative for Fundamental Theatre Project's upcoming season. The evening was hosted by FTP Patrons, Scott Mitchell and Ed Neppl. The one-night reading also helped raise awareness for 'Minnesotans United For All Families', an equal rights organization. Today in 1999, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown closed at the Ambassador Theatre, where it ran for 149 performances. You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a 1967 musical comedy with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, based on the characters created by cartoonist Charles M. Schulz in his comic strip Peanuts. The revival cast featured Anthony Rapp as Charlie Brown, Kristin Chenoweth as Sally and Roger Bart as Snoopy.

Last night was opening night for the revival of Torch Song Trilogy at the Menier Chocolate Factory, London. Harvey Fierstein's Tony Award-winning TORCH SONG TRILOGY, helmed by Tony and Olivier Award winner Douglas Hodge is described as 'the poignant story of an outsider's search for love and acceptance.' Murray Abraham, Christine Baranski, John Cullum, David Harbour, Bill Irwin, Sandra Oh, Phylicia Rashad, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Sharon Washington will join Kevin Kline as Romeo and Meryl Streep as Juliet in a one-night-only benefit reading of ROMEO AND JULIET on Monday, June 18 - the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Over the past five decades, more than five million people have enjoyed over 150 productions of Shakespeare and other classical works and musicals at the Delacorte.

AccordiNg to the New York Times, David Mamet's 1984 play Glengarry Glen Ross is heading back to Broadway, this time starring Al Pacino as leading man, 'Shelly "The Machine" Levene.' Pacino previously played 'Richard Roma' the the 1992 film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Daniel Sullivan is attached to direct the project, which is set to open in the 2012-13 season.

Kimball, who recently wrote a song on the issue, titled 'Shoe Spam Stand-off', told Gawker, 'A) Shoes smell. B) they're hideous to look at. I don't know anyone who would buy these shoes.'
