Weathervane Productions, Rising Phoenix Repertory, in association with Rattlestick Playwrights Theaterwill soon present the world premiere production of The Convent, a new play by critically acclaimed playwright Jessica Dickey (The Amish Project, Charles Ives Take Me Home). The production, directed by Daniel Talbott, will begin performances today, January 16, 2019 with an opening night scheduled for January 24, 2019. The Convent will run through February 17, 2019 at the Mezzanine Theatre at A.R.T./New York Theatres (502 West 53rd Street).

Lincoln Center Theater presents The Hard Problem, a new play by Tom Stoppard, to be directed by Jack O'Brien. The production features Eshan Bay, Adelaide Clemens, John Patrick Doherty, Nina Grollman, Katie Beth Hall, Eleanor Handley, Olivia Hebert, Sagar Kiran, Chris O'Shea, Madeleine Pace, Robert Petkoff, Tara Summers, Jon Tenney, Baylen Thomas, Kim N. Wong, and Karoline Xu. The Hard Problem began performances Thursday, October 25 and opened Monday night, November 19 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street).

The York Theatre Company honored Five-time Tony Award-winning musical theatre director/choreographer Susan Stroman with the 2018 Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre and Betty Cooper Wallerstein with the York Theatre Company Founders' Award at the 27th Oscar Hammerstein Award Gala last week at The Edison Ballroom.

The critically-acclaimed musical comedy The Other Josh Cohen opened Off-Broadway earlier this week at The Westside Theatre (407 West 43rd Street). The musical - nominated for six Drama Desk Awards and the Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical upon its world premiere in 2012 - features Book, Music and Lyrics by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen, who co-star in the title roles, under the direction of Tony Award nominee Hunter Foster. Joining Rosen and Rossmer in the cast are Drama Desk nominee Kate Wetherhead (Legally Blonde), Hannah Elless(Bright Star), Elizabeth Nestlerode (Once Tour), Luke Darnell (Million Dollar Quartet Vegas) and Louis Tucci (Buddy);Zach Spound (Cruel Intentions: The Musical) will serve as swing. Previews began Friday, October 26, 2018, for the show's limited engagement of seventeen weeks through February 24, 2019.

Just last night, Only Make Believe honored Bethenny Frankel with the Sir Ian McKellen Award for her global philanthropic work for families in crisis through her Bstrong initiative in partnership with delivering good disaster relief charity, as well as Tony Winning playwright / lyricist/ composer Joe DiPietro with the Founder's Award for his for tireless commitment to OMB for 19 years and OMB's first partner facility The Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation at NYU Langone with the OMB Star Award. 'Make Believe On Broadway', which was held last night at the Schoenfeld Theatre, was hosted by the hilarious Rachel Dratch.

The national tour of Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King and I, based on the 2015 Tony Award-winning Lincoln Center Theater production, welcomes new cast members! Angela Baumgardner will play Anna Leonowens and Pedro Ka'awaloa will play the King of Siam, with Deanna Choi as Lady Thiang, Bern Tan as Kralahome, Paulina Yeung as Tuptim, Dongwoo Kang as Lun Tha, Timothy Matthew Flores as Prince Chulalongkorn, Hayden Bercy as Louis Leonowens and Stanton Morales as Captain Orton/Sir Edward Ramsey.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) held its annual Symposium and Awards Luncheon yesterday at the New York Hilton Midtown. The annual event recognized more than 300 BCRF-funded scientists from around the world who are devoted to ending breast cancer through groundbreaking research.
