Jamie McDell’s album was recorded in Nashville, the singer-songwriter teaming up with Nash Chambers in his studio and drawing on the musical talents of Dan Dugmore, Jedd Hughes, Dennis Crouch, Shawn Fichter, Jerry Roe, Jimmy Wallace, Tony Lucido, and Ross Holmes, along with guests such as the McCrary Sisters, Robert Ellis, Erin Rae, and Tom Busby.

Funeral Singer was co-produced by friend and frequent collaborator, engineer and producer, Kevin Salem (Rachel Yamagata, Lenka, Emmylou Harris), and features performances by Yuka Tadano on bass and drummer Cody Rahn. The “Cold Ocean” video, directed by Rob Kassabian and starring Mark Weills as “Walker Slim,” was shot on a cold November day in various Brooklyn locales, including the seasonally bare Brighton Beach and Coney Island boardwalks. Weills as Slim portrays a loser who must hawk a prized possession to buy a ring for a lover who never shows.
