Unsurprisingly, many now-famous musical actors, like the latest newcomer, Moritz Mausser (ROCK ME AMADEUS's Leading Man), were trained at this prestigious institution. Getting the chance to see future graduates perform in front of an audience is something you definitely can't miss. Seeing the (potential) future of Musical Theatre is always worth a visit.

What did our critic think of ROCK ME AMADEUS THE FALCO MUSICAL at RONACHER THEATER?

Earlier this year, the Musical scene lost a Virtuoso, a mastermind in the orchestra pit. Caspar Richter brought love and passion into his work, he became a patron for many artists during his long-lasting career and a friend to many of us.

The Belgian-born Singer/Composer found his second home fifteen years ago in Vienna. He has been part of numerous musical productions and played some leading roles (like Old Deuteronomy in the latest Vienna CATS production). Apart from his OnStage career, Six has written a couple of Musicals (Wenn Rosenblätter fallen, Ein wenig Farbe, Luna, Die Mädchen von Oostende, Namen an der Wand, Weihnachtsengel küsst man nicht, Mord auf Sendung, Finder, Ein Date zu fünft, and Künstler unbekannt) and founded the Theatercouch in Vienna. Rory Six has made himself a name on and offstage in the German-speaking Musical area. Six had a significant impact on the Off-Musical scene in Vienna. His Theatercouch was the #1 adress for highly anticipated Off-productions. It feels like only yesterday when Six presented his first Musical; what a joy and a profoundly and honestly touching experience. Of course, it is time to celebrate his career and birthday.

What did our critic think of DIRTY DANCING THE ORIGINAL LIVE ON TOUR at WIENER STADTHALLE? 'No one puts baby in a corner.' One of the most iconic movie quotes of all time, embossed by Patrick Swayze as Johnny Castle. The movie became a phenomenon, but it took years to convince Eleanor Bergstein to transfer it into a Live Action experience. Bergstein hesitated, but after all, she decided it was time for audiences to become a part of the story they love.

Visiting a club like the famous U4 Club during the day might be rather unusual, but what was once a second home to Falco, aka Hans Hölzl, is probably the best choice to present the cast of the highly anticipated in-house production of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien. We all know the three magical words in the theatrical world, 'It's Opening Night'! The excitement, the jitters, the murmurations in the lobby and the auditorium before the curtain rises for something new.

The German Musical Community is grieving the loss of one of the VBW's founding fathers, Caspar Richter, who passed away last night. Richter has been involved in productions like A Chorus Line, Les Miserables, The Phantom Of The Opera, Freudiana, Elisabeth, Mozart, Jekyll, and Hyde, Chicago, Rebecca, and Mel Brooks, The Producers, to name a few. Our Musical World wouldn't have been the same without his second-to-none passion.

What did our critic think of HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH at DAS VINDOBONA? The Glam-Rock Musical Sensation with Music and Lyrics by Stephen Trask and a Book by John Cameron Mitchell is back in Austria for a limited run at the Vindobona. What a way to start the year. After Hedwig's first appearance in 2006, starring Andreas Bieber in the Leading Role and Anke Fielder as Yitzhak and the highly acclaimed production at the Landestheater Linz with Riccardo Greco in Heels and Ariana Schirasi-Fard as his Backup-Singer it's Drew Sarich together with his wife Ann Mandrella, to tell the story of Hansel Schmidt and his Angry Inch.

Ready for a new year full of splendid shows and numerous Opening Nights. Here is my short list of some of this year's recommendable shows you can't miss.
