Tony Nominated Actor Donal Donnelly Dies at Age 78January 6, 2010Donal Donnelly, nominated for a Tony Award for his portrayal of Gar Private in the world premiere of Brian Friel's Philadelphia, Here I Come!, passed away on January 4,2010. Donnelly, 78, died from cancer in Chicago, where he has been living for two years.
The New York Philharmonic Performs Christopher Rouse’s Odna Zhizn, 2/10-2/16January 5, 2010Music Director Alan Gilbert will conduct the New York Philharmonic in the World Premiere of Christopher Rouse's 'Odna Zhizn' - a New York Philharmonic Commission- and two works by Mozart: the Sinfonia concertante for Winds, featuring Philharmonic musicians, and the Symphony No. 41, Jupiter. Performances will be Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, February 11, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, February 12, at 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday, February 16, at 7:30 p.m. Appearing in solo roles in the Sinfonia concertante will be Principal Oboe Liang Wang, Acting Principal Clarinet Mark Nuccio in his Philharmonic subscription solo debut, Principal Bassoon Judith LeClair, and Principal Horn Philip Myers.
The Gizmo Guys Play the Mclean's Alden Theater, 1/16January 5, 2010The impressive technique and humor of the juggling duo, The Gizmo Guys, will be on display at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, in McLean's Alden Theatre. Part of the theatre's 2009-2010 McLean Kids Performance Series, the performance will be followed by a Tennis Ball Juggling Workshop at 3:30 p.m. Tickets to the show are $14, $10 for McLean tax district residents. The workshop is $10 per person. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.
