Tony Nominee James Gammon Dies at Age 70July 18, 2010According to the LA Times, character actor James Gammon died surrounded by family in his daughter's home in Costa Mesa where he and wife Nancy had been living. He died from cancer of the adrenal glands and the liver on Friday at the age of 70.
Pianists Tzimon Barto & Shai Wosner Step in for Christoph Eschenbach at Ravinia, 7/22 & 7/23July 18, 2010Renowned pianists Tzimon Barto and Shai Wosner will perform at Ravinia this week in place of Christoph Eschenbach, who is suffering from tendonitis. Barto will accompany baritone Matthias Goerne in the July 22 Martin Theatre recital that is to include Schumann's Liederkreis song cycle and Brahms's Four Serious Songs. Wosner will perform Mozart's Piano Concerto in A Major, K. 488 in a July 23 Chicago Symphony Orchestra concert that also features hits from Bernstein's Candide-conducted as planned by John Axelrod.
