Original Teen Rock Musical Opens at C.A.S.T. 6/29June 6, 2012An original teen rock musical written by four local young artists will be performed at Carolina Actors Studio Theatre from June 29-July 1. Called CyberSoul, the musical explores how teens struggle with communication and relationships in a society dominated by technology.

New York City Dance Alliance National Season Finale Set for 6/28-7/5June 6, 2012This summer, from June 28th-July 5th at the Sheraton NY just north of Times Square, 1,500 student dancers from across the United States (ages 7-18) will attend the New York City Dance Alliance National Season Finale which last year awarded a grand total of $2.9 million in college scholarships. Several past student participants have gone on to perform on Broadway and be principal dancers at some of the country's most respected dance companies. Past participants have also been winners of the hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance and also appear as the pros on Dancing with the Stars.

2012 Reid MacCluggage Black Maritime History Scholarship Winners AnnouncedJune 6, 2012The New London Maritime Society (NLMS) today announced the winners of the 2012 Reid MacCluggage Black Maritime History Scholarships. East Lyme High School senior Morgan O'Toole took the first prize, a scholarship award of $1,000, for her fictional diary of an African-American seaman in the Union Army, at the time of the Civil War. Aidan James Quinn, a senior at Robert E. Fitch High School in Groton, won the Second-place prize, a $500 savings bond, for a true maritime history of his Cape Veridan ancestors.
