The West Coast premiere of The Alaev Family continues the Skirball Cultural Center's annual Sunset Concerts series on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 8:00 PM. The Alaev Family blends the ancient, rhythmic, and highly percussive music of Central Asia, Turkey, Persia, and Russia with Jewish traditions, on instruments such as the doyra, darbuka, alofon (all percussion instruments), drums, cajon, Turkish clarinet, accordion, kanun (plucked zither), violin, Bukharan and Armenian clarinets, and bass guitar. On stage, The Alaev Family represents three family generations, with eighty-year-old patriarch Allo Alaev at the center playing the doyra (frame drum).

Milwaukee Repertory Theater is delighted to announce that Aaron Posner returns to The Rep to direct A Christmas Carol, performed annually at the historic Pabst Theater. Posner directed The Rep's To Kill a Mockingbird, which broke all-time attendance records last season, as well as the lyrical, beautifully-realized production of My Name is Asher Lev in 2010. This will be the first time that Posner has directed A Christmas Carol at Milwaukee Rep.

The New-York Historical Society has announced that a rare copy of the "Stone" facsimile of the Declaration of Independence -one of approximately fifty in existence-will be added to the displays in the Judith and Howard Berkowitz Sculpture Court beginning July 3 in honor of Independence Day. The document is being lent to New-York Historical through the courtesy of collector David Rubenstein, managing director of The Carlyle Group, and will remain on view through July 15.

Cook and Parets will become the 10th and 11th young actors to perform as 'Billy' in the national tour; their debuts will also mark the 65th and 66th boys to play 'Billy' on stage worldwide and the 26th and 27th boys to play 'Billy' in North America since the show opened on Broadway. Their first performance dates will be announced soon.
