AIRSWIMMING Makes DC Premiere as Part of Capital Fringe FestivalJuly 5, 2012Charlotte Jones' Airswimming will get its area premiere as part of the seventh annual Capital Fringe Festival. Inspired by true events, Airswimming tells the story of two women who are incarcerated in an asylum for sexual deviancy and having a child out of wedlock in 1920s England. Forgotten by their families, the two women form a bond over their 50 year imprisonment in an alternate reality inspired by the one and only Doris Day.

Eric Johnson Kicks Off UK TourJuly 5, 2012Electric guitarist Eric Johnson will kick off his first ever solo UK tour at the Holmfirth Picturedrome tomorrow night (Friday 6th July). Originally a 5-date tour, Johnson added a second London date at the Leicester Square Theatre, due to phenomenal public demand. This tour will showcase material from his current album "Up Close", and from his rich back catalogue.
Polarity Ensemble Theatre's Dionysos Cup Festival of New Plays Announces Lineup UpdatesJuly 5, 2012Polarity Ensemble Theatre's Dionysos Cup Festival of New Plays has apparently reached the proper vintage to bear multiple fruit. This summer two scripts developed in the Dionysos Cup series will see their world premieres playing simultaneously, the series itself adds video thanks to an award from the Saints, another Dionysos Cup play has gone on to further development with the Goodman Theatre, and Polarity will award this year's Cup to a worthy and entertaining new script.
Peterborough Players Present THE 39 STEPS, 7/18-29July 5, 2012The 39 Steps, a fast-paced comedy whodunit, opens July 18 at the Peterborough Players and runs through July 29. Patrick Barlow adapted the play from the novel by John Buchan and the film of Alfred Hitchcock. Tickets are $37, except $39 on Saturdays. A special ticket price of $25 is offered to anyone 35 years or younger for the Saturday performance on July 21.

Dallas Opera Receives $250,000 Grant From the Texas Instruments FoundationJuly 3, 2012The Dallas Opera has announced that the company has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the Texas Instruments Foundation, which recently approved grants totaling $1.5 million to a dozen diverse North Texas arts and cultural organizations. According to the foundation, the purpose of these awards is to "enrich the quality of life in TI's headquarters community."
