Honens International Piano Competition Semifinalists AnnouncedJuly 17, 2012Ten pianists have been chosen to advance to the Semifinals of Canada's Honens International Piano Competition. The pianists come from seven countries: Australia, Canada, China, Italy, South Korea, Russia and Ukraine. One will be named the Honens Prize Laureate and win the world's largest award of its kind - a $100,000 (CAD) Enbridge Prize (cash) and an artistic and career development program valued at a half million dollars. The Semifinals and Finals of the Honens Competition, presented by Nexen Inc., take place in Calgary, October 17 to 26, 2012.

Laurence Kardish to Retire From The Museum of Modern Art After 40 YearsJuly 17, 2012Laurence Kardish, Senior Curator in the Department of Film at The Museum of Modern Art, will retire on October 15, after a 44-year career at MoMA. Mr. Kardish joined the Museum as Curatorial Assistant in the Department of Film in 1968, and was promoted to Assistant Curator in 1971, Associate Curator in 1977, Curator in 1984, and Senior Curator in 1999. During his career at MoMA, he organized hundreds of film exhibitions and special screenings, established a number of important annual film series, and was responsible for coordinating more than 60 film exhibitions each year in the Museum's Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters.
MY PERFECT PET Opens at NYMF, 7/27July 17, 2012The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) presents a staged reading of MY PERFECT PET. Marlo Hunter, Founder & Artistic Director of Eating Their Words, will direct a cast that includes Ethan Haberfield (Mary Poppins), Rebecca Lynn Goldfarb (Godspell 2032), David Foley, Jr. (Shrek, National Tour), Caroline Cahill, and Adrienne Asterita in a staged reading of the new family musical MY PERFECT PET. Daniel Feyer (Arnie the Doughnut) serves as music director, with stage management by Lauren Wong and general management by Gretchen Margaroli. Performances are July 27th at 4:30 p.m. and July 28th at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. as part of the 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival.
