Cole Porter's Can-Can hits the Westchester Broadway Theatre stage this Fall. Written by Caleb Porter and Abe Burrows, the story revolves around t'he lovely Pistache, who owns the only café that features the sexy and provocative Can-Can. She spars with Aristide Forestier, a self-righteous judge, determined to close all Parisian dance halls. The show features the provocativly delightful Can-Can, the high-energy and physically demanding music hall dance which is a hybrid of the Polka and The Quadrille. First danced in circa 1822, it was outlawed for a number of years as immoral and prohibited by the police! How times have changed!'

Goodspeed Musicals adds eight additional performances of the celebrated Rodgers & Hammerstein classic. Carousel will now run through September 29, 2012 at the Goodspeed Opera House; The Bikinis plans to hit the stage for an additional 8 performances.

The Old Globe will present artist Wendy Maruyama's large-scale sculptural installation "The Tag Project" in conjunction with the World Premiere of Allegiance - A New American Musical, which will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC), the largest multi-arts festival in North America, will present the 16th Annual Festival from August 10th- 26. FringeNYC will offer programming by 187 of the world's best emerging theatre troupes and dance companies in 20 venues in Lower Manhattan. The Juilliard School welcomes the inaugural class of its new Master of Fine Arts in Drama program this Fall 2012. Eight graduate actors have been accepted into the highly selective program and will begin classes this September. Juilliard's M.F.A. in Drama is a four-year conservatory program in actor training providing the tools necessary to meet the demands of an ever-evolving performing arts career and preparing young artists to become versatile and dynamic leaders in their field. The M.F.A program joins Juilliard's four-year B.F.A. program, headed by James Houghton, the Richard Rodgers Director of the Drama Division.

On August 23rd, Chicago Opera Theater's (COT) Opera Underground - COT's young person's social club - will start a new tradition with its first annual Booze Cruise - "I'm On A Boat!". Guests will coast down the Chicago River and Lake Michigan on Chicago Cruises' "Summer of George." Meyer Rossabi is earning the reputation as one of the finest blues guitarists in the U.S.A. His debut CD, Blues Is The Color, is still receiving airplay on FM radio across the country. Blues Is The Color features nine original songs, two covers and a bonus live track 'The Sky is Crying'. Supporting the arts as part of its education-focused initiatives, State Employees' Credit Union (SECU) members via the SECU Foundation, have provided the North Carolina Symphony with $140,000 in funding for a new 28-foot insulated vehicle, the organizations announced today. The new vehicle will help the nationally recognized North Carolina Symphony continue their broad travels across the state to bring world-class talent and musical performances to North Carolina students and communities each year. The Symphony's vehicle is a vital component for transporting the orchestra's valuable instruments in a structurally sound, temperature and humidity-controlled environment in order to maintain instrument integrity. In recognition of SECU members' contribution as a partner in education, the vehicle will be designed with an exterior wrap highlighting the SECU Foundation alongside the Symphony.

The first solo exhibition in a New York museum by the artist El Anatsui will be presented at the Brooklyn Museum from February 8 through August 4, 2013. Gravity and Grace: Monumental Works by El Anatsui will feature over 30 primarily large-scale works in metal and wood that transform appropriated objects into site-specific sculptures.
