One For My Baby is a song-and-dance celebration of big-city nightlife at the end of World War II with direction and choreography by Scott Thompson, who co-authored the book with musical arranger/musical director, Fred Barton. One for My Baby promises such classics as 'Stormy Weather,' 'Get Happy,' 'The Man that Got Away,' 'Come Rain or Come Shine,' 'It's Only a Paper Moon,' 'That Old Black Magic' and 'Blues in the Night."
Winner of the HOLA award for outstanding new play and the ACE award for best director/drama, both for La Luz De Un Cigarrillo (The Light Of A Cigarette), Marco Antonio Rodriguez's new play, Barcelo On Ice, is a finalist in Spanish Repertory's Nuestras Voices playwriting competition and will receive a free public reading (in Spanish) on Monday, November 19, 6:30 pm. Barcelo On Ice competed with over 75 other works and was selected as one of only nine finalists!
Since 1992, under the rubric of its Undesirable Elements series, the beloved Ping Chong + Company has created nearly 50 deeply moving theater productions that give voice to specific communities. In the creation of each piece, local participants testify to their real lives and experiences, often for the first time. Scripts are based on interviews with these participants, who then tell their stories in the final production. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the initiative, the company will offer a festival of these works-including Cry for Peace: Voices from the Congo; Secret Survivors, featuring adult survivors of child sexual abuse; and Inside/Out…voices from the disability community-October 18 through November 4 at La MaMa E.T.C. The programming will also include panel discussions, live streams of performances, and the screening of a new documentary entitled Secret Survivors: Using Theater to Break the Silence.

Through his inspirations and passions, he had an ability to drive people to achieve more than they ever thought possible. Arizona Theatre Company's "Lombardi" centers on the iconic Green Bay Packers coach during a pivotal week in 1965. This Southwest premiere production of the Broadway hit plays at the Temple of Music and Art and runs from October 20 - November 10, 2012. The poetry of William Shakespeare's timeless A Midsummer Night's Dream is swinging to a new beat with newly composed tunes, classic jazz standards and choreographed dance numbers in A Jazz Dream, The Musical, adapted by New York guest director Maggie L. Harrer and produced by the University of North Texas Department of Dance and Theatre. UNT's College of Music is providing creative musical input, and UNT's Department of English is offering dramaturgical assistance.
Tokyo Symphony Orchestra Chairman Hideo Sawada and Managing Director and Executive Director Junji Ohno announced today that conductor Jonathan Nott will become the Orchestra's next Music Director, beginning in 2014-15 season. The initial agreement is for three years.
Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts has selected Arvind Manocha as the not-for-profit organization's new President and CEO. Manocha will begin his tenure on January 2, 2013 following the retirement of long-time leader Terrence D. Jones. Manocha is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, where he oversees the Hollywood Bowl, a venue that serves more than one million patrons annually and shares a commitment to the all encompassing programmatic vision of the Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. During his tenure at the Bowl, he has been responsible for growing attendance, increasing the variety and scope of concerts, and managing a multi-million dollar program of ongoing capital improvements. Since he took on management of the historic facility, the Hollywood Bowl has been named "Best Outdoor Amphitheatre in the U.S." eight years in a row by Pollstar magazine (2004-2011).
