A Master toy maker has been making beautiful toys and dolls that come to life. His secret ingredient is the magic doll dust that he keeps locked up in his magic trunk. Because they are so special and he is so selfish he refuses to sell them. When the dolls discover that something is missing, that they don't feel complete, they look in the magic trunk and discover a jar full of hearts. They each put one on, feeling the warm glow of love and then spread that love with the toy maker who learns how to 'share' his toys.

First Folio Theatre (Mayslake Peabody Estate, 31st St. & Rt. 83) presents the acclaimed play UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL, directed by Jeff Award nominee Alison C. Vesely, previewing March 27, opening March 30 and running through April 28, 2013. The production stars Kristine Thatcher, a member of the 2001 Tony Award-winning Victory Gardens Playwrights Ensemble, where her play Voice of Good Hope premiered and was nominated for the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Work in 2000. Thatcher most recently appeared as Terri in Jeffrey Sweet's new play Immoral Imperatives. Prior to that, she appeared in First Folio Theatre's production of Macbeth. Other credits include "Hannah Jarvis" in Tom Stoppard's Arcadia at the Goodman Theatre, "Candida" in George Bernard Shaw's Candida at Writers' Theatre, and "Regan" in King Lear and "Kate" in Taming of the Shrew at Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
The Louis Armstrong House Museum is offering special guided Historic Holiday House Tours beginning December 4th through December 30th with regular museum admission. These house tours will feature rare audio clips from Louis's personal recordings of himself and family celebrations at home including an at-home reading of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, A Visit from St. Nicholas.' The tours will also feature seasonal recordings including: 'Zat You Santa Claus" and Louis listening to Nat King Cole sing 'All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" with an impromptu duet by Louis himself.

This December, the Met will present an all-new holiday presentation: an abridged, English-language version of Rossini's classic comedy The Barber of Seville. Bartlett Sher returns to direct this adaptation of his hit 2006 production, which will have a running time of approximately two hours. Yves Abel conducts a cast led by Isabel Leonard as the feisty heroine Rosina, Alek Shrader as the handsome Count Almaviva, Rodion Pogossov as the local jack-of-all-trades Figaro, John Del Carlo as the wicked Dr. Bartolo, and Jordan Bisch as the music teacher Don Basilio. The new English-language libretto is by J. D. McClatchy, the American poet who also provided the translation for the Met's holiday production of Mozart's The Magic Flute. In keeping with the Met's recent tradition of family-oriented holiday programming, The Barber of Seville will feature sharply discounted tickets and a special weekday matinee performance.
