January 1 marks the start of a new year and ImprovBoston is starting the new year with big laughs. After a wildly successful debut in 2012, 100 New England comedians will be telling their first joke of the year over two shows at the theatre. Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, professional Theatre in Residence at the Oakes Center in Summit, will present the New Jersey premiere of Julia Cho's Off-Broadway hit, The Language Archive. This comedy of the heart explores the mysterious language of love, which often fails when it is needed most. Recently produced at both the Roundabout in New York and South Coast Rep in California, The Language Archive plays January 25 through February 10.

The Guthrie Theater today announced that beginning December 27, the theater will offer its first-ever "Tweet Seats" during four consecutive Thursday performances of The Servant of Two Masters, allowing social media users an opportunity to interact during the show. A limited number of seats located in a balcony level of the McGuire Proscenium in a section that will not be disruptive to other patrons will be designated as Tweet Seats. Tweet Seat tickets are $15 and are available by calling the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224, and mentioning "Tweet." In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, CENTERSTAGE will be having a special performance of The Mountaintop at 7:30 pm. In order to make this performance affordable and accessible, 100 Pay What You Can tickets for that performance will be made available on January 4 and 5.

After announcing that SILENCE! The Musical will end its run December 30th at the Elektra Theatre, ticket sales have unexpectedly soared, shattering all previous box office records for the show so far. As a result, the producers have determined that performances of the smash hit show will resume on January 18th. Originally announced as a strictly limited engagement through August 13, 2011, SILENCE! was extended numerous times by popular demand and transferred theatres twice, ultimately landing at the new Elektra Theatre in the heart of Times Square, which was constructed especially for the show. SILENCE! opened at Theatre 80 on July 9, 2011 to unanimous rave reviews and spawned a highly successful L.A. production starring Davis Gaines and Christine Lakin.

Brooklyn-based experimental psych-rock band RAILBIRD is excited to premiere a new School of Seven Bells remix of their recent single 'MIRRORs' today on Consequence of Sound. To RAILBIRD, the remix is 'A journey in three movements. Benjamin [of SVIIB] established his own dreamy world within the song, then dropped it while simultaneously playing with mood and meaning throughout.' Consequence agrees, stating the Benjamin's methodically slowed down version of the original jittery cut creates a 'dreamy pool of contemplative reverberation and airy synth.' Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jeremy Blocker, Managing Director) will kick off its 2013 season with The Netflix Plays, the newest installment from Ars Nova's Play Group. Set to play 10 performances only from January 30 - February 9, this year's incarnation of Ars Nova's annual Play Group production features original short plays and live music inspired by the recommendation categories on the Netflix website.
