General Director Irene Dalis announced today the repertoire for the company's 30th season to begin Saturday, September 7, 2013 with Verdi's masterwork Falstaff, conducted by Opera San José's founding music director and principal conductor, David Rohrbaugh. In November, Opera San José will present Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, a family classic to welcome the holiday season. Acclaimed stage director Brad Dalton returns in 2014 to direct Puccini's bittersweet Madama Butterfly. The season will culminate with Mozart's Don Giovanni.
Erich Bergen, currently starring as Billy Crocker in the national tour of Anything Goes, is set to bring his one-night-only concert to San Francisco's premiere nightclub, Live At The RRazz, on Monday, January 28 at 8pm. Anything Goes is currently playing at the Golden Gate Theatre through February 3. Beginning this Saturday, January 19th, Broadway favorite Sean McDermott will star as serial killer Hannibal Lecter in Off-Broadway's smash hit SILENCE! The Musical. Following the announcement that SILENCE! would be ending its long run December 30th, ticket sales unexpectedly soared, shattering all previous box office records for the show so far. Lincoln Center Theater has announced that Jonny Orsini and Lewis J. Stadlen will join two-time Tony Award-winning actor Nathan Lane in its upcoming production of THE NANCE, a new play by Douglas Carter Beane to be directed by Jack O'Brien. The production will begin previews on Thursday, March 21 and open on Monday, April 15 at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45 Street). Additional casting for THE NANCE will be announced at a later date.
