OPERA SAN JOSE 30th Anniversary Season Announced

General Director Irene Dalis announced today the repertoire for the company's 30th season to begin Saturday, September 7, 2013 with Verdi's masterwork Falstaff, conducted by Opera San José's founding music director and principal conductor, David Rohrbaugh. In November, Opera San José will present Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, a family classic to welcome the holiday season. Acclaimed stage director Brad Dalton returns in 2014 to direct Puccini's bittersweet Madama Butterfly. The season will culminate with Mozart's Don Giovanni.

Erich Bergen, currently starring as Billy Crocker in the national tour of Anything Goes, is set to bring his one-night-only concert to San Francisco's premiere nightclub, Live At The RRazz, on Monday, January 28 at 8pm. Anything Goes is currently playing at the Golden Gate Theatre through February 3. Of Bergen's performance, Rob Hurwitt in The San Francisco Chronicle, said, " ... the hopeless romantic Billy Crocker [is] embodied by the wonderful Erich Bergen with leading man charisma, fine song-and-dance chops, and comic versatility."

Bedlam follows up it's critically acclaimed revival of Shaw's Saint Joan (named 2012's Best Revival of A Play by The Wall Street Journal and called 'a production to be treasured' by The New York Times) with HAMLET. In this bold, environmental staging directed by Eric Tucker, Shakespeare's classic drama is performed by an ensemble of only four actors. Beginning this Saturday, January 19th, Broadway favorite Sean McDermott will star as serial killer Hannibal Lecter in Off-Broadway's smash hit SILENCE! The Musical. Following the announcement that SILENCE! would be ending its long run December 30th, ticket sales unexpectedly soared, shattering all previous box office records for the show so far. As a result, the producers determined that performances of the smash hit show will resume after a brief hiatus on January 19th.

Lincoln Center Theater has announced that Jonny Orsini and Lewis J. Stadlen will join two-time Tony Award-winning actor Nathan Lane in its upcoming production of THE NANCE, a new play by Douglas Carter Beane to be directed by Jack O'Brien. The production will begin previews on Thursday, March 21 and open on Monday, April 15 at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45 Street). Additional casting for THE NANCE will be announced at a later date.

The Music Box Theatre continues its partnership with the UK's National Theatre Live - produced by Northwestern University alum David Sabel - to exhibit live stage performances beamed to Chicago from the prestigious National Theatre in London. Academy Award nominee and Tony Award-winner John Lithgow (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Shrek, This is 40) takes the title role in Arthur Wing Pinero's uproarious Victorian farce, The Magistrate, directed by Olivier Award-winner Timothy Sheader (Crazy for You and Into the Woods). The Chicago performances take place Wednesday, January 23, 7 p.m. and Sunday, February 10, 2 p.m. at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 North Southport Avenue. A one-week extension has been added to the run prior to the start of performances, which will begin in Two River's Rechnitz Theater, 21 Bridge Avenue, on Saturday, February 2 and continue through Sunday, March 3. As the chosen photographer for rock & roll legends such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Doors, The Eagles, Janis Joplin and more, Ethan had literally "the best seat in the house" for many of rock's most iconic moments from 1966-1982.
