Nickelodeon announced today a 20-episode pick-up of How To Rock, a new live-action comedy series featuring original music and starring multi-talented recording artist, Cymphonique Miller. The series builds on the network's successful slate of original live-action programming, joining the stable of hit music-themed shows Victorious and Big Time Rush.

Civic Theatre proudly presents the 2nd Annual Northeast Indiana Playwright Festival June 3-5, 2011 at the Allen County Public Library. Kirk Douglas and his wife, Anne, continue to give generously to the art form that the legendary screen actor calls his first love. To help develop and produce new work for the theatre, the Douglases have recently awarded a $1 million challenge grant to Center Theatre Group to be combined with their earlier $1 million seed grant for new work, which results in a $2 million investment in the future of Los Angeles theatre.

The Muppets are set to make another big screen splash this year, more than 30 years after their big screen debut. Featuring the talents of a slew of stars - Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Rashida Jones, Neil Patrick Harris, Katy Perry, Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Crystal, Liza Minnelli, Katy Griffin, and John Kraskinski, to name a few - the film is slated for a November 23 release. Bette Midler has joined the cast of the untitled film centered around Phil Spector. Variety reports that Midler joins stage and screen veterans Jeffrey Tambor and Al Pacino. The film is written and directed by David Mamet, who counts among his many writing credits the Tony nominated and Pulitzer Award-winning Glengarry Glen Ross, and the Oscar winner The Verdict.

BBC AMERICA has signed comedian, writer and web pundit Chris Hardwick to host the channel's new Saturday night comedy block, Ministry of Laughs, and has committed to a pilot/special based on Hardwick's hit Nerdist podcast. The pilot will be a BBC AMERICA original program.

The first ever recipient of The Patrick White Playwrights' Fellowship was announced at a special event at Sydney Theatre Company on Friday 20 May at 8pm.
