BWW Reviews: CATS at Alpha/Omega Players is Memorable

"Jellicle cats come out tonight . . . Jellicles come to the Jellicle Ball." This is the premise for the current show at Alpha/Omega Players version of CATS. The show is based on T.S. Eliot's collection of poems entitled, Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, and Andrew Lloyd Webber composed the musical. The show tells the story of a group of cats called "jellicles," and they come out once a year to the Jellicle Ball. At the ball, the jellicle cats decide which cat will ascend to the "Heavenside Layer" and come back in a new life. The cast of the Alpha/Omega Players production of CATS radiates with enthusiasm and energy, which makes this show enjoyable and entertaining.

SUMMER OF '42 is a coming of age story that reminds audiences about the innocence of youth. SUMMER OF '42 is a heartfelt story, and Bucks County Playhouse's production of this show is full of heart, humor, and heartbreak.

BWW Reviews: Bucks County Playhouse's 46th Annual Student Theatre Festival

This year, 2013, marks the first time that the Student Theatre Festival has been at the Bucks County Playhouse in two years. The Playhouse reopened last summer, the summer of 2012. The festival was held for three consecutive weeks in May, and involved 800 students from twenty-five schools. Students from Pennsylvania and New Jersey preformed a thirty-minute segment from either a play or musical. The students then received critiques on their performance from a panel of adjudicators. The adjudicators was comprised of a select group of people with experience in theatre, some were from the local community and others were well-known screenwriters, actors or musicians. The Newtown Arts Company and the Bucks County Playhouse presented this year's Student Theatre Festival.
