OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that Tina Perry, executive vice president, business and legal affairs, and board member of OWN, has been named general manager of the network effective January 2019 overseeing all business and creative areas of OWN. She will report to OWN Chairman and CEO Oprah Winfrey. After seven years leading OWN as president, Erik Logan will be departing for a position with the World Surf League. Logan will work closely with Perry over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.

Sony's Venom broke records this weekend with its first place debut of $80.03 million. It largest opening weekend ever for the month of October, with 2013's Gravity holding the previous record with $55.79 million.

As the ongoing clashes between the Trump administration, the Department of Justice and the FBI continue to make headlines, SHOWTIME will premiere a new documentary series from Oscar and Emmy award-winning director Alex Gibney. During New York Comic-Con, STAR TREK: DISCOVERY executive producer Alex Kurtzman revealed that the highly anticipated second season of the series will launch Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, exclusively on CBS All Access in the United States. During the panel with cast and executive producers at Madison Square Garden, the official season two New York Comic-Con trailer debuted, and fans were given a first look at STAR TREK: DISCOVERY's Spock, played by Ethan Peck; Number One, played by Rebecca Romijn; and Section 31's newest recruit, Philippa Georgiou, played by Michelle Yeoh.

The official trailer for CBS All Access' upcoming original thriller, TELL ME A STORY, was revealed during the series' New York Comic-Con panel at Javits Center.

Finesse Mitchell takes the stage in his first stand-up special FINESSE MITCHELL: THE SPIRIT TOLD ME TO TELL YOU, premiering on Friday, October 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME on-air, streaming and on demand. In the hour-long special directed by Devon Shepard and shot at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California, the Saturday Night Live alum discusses everything from L.A. life and staying out of the club to juggling the non-stop demands of marriage, fatherhood and “adult-ing.”

Smokehouse Pictures, run by George Clooney and Grant Heslov, has signed a two year first-look deal with Paramount Television, according to Variety.

Turner's TNT has greenlit straight to series Raised By Wolves, a serialized sci-fi series from master storyteller and filmmaker Ridley Scott (The Martian, Blade Runner, Alien: Covenant), who will also mark his television directorial debut with the series. Acclaimed writer Aaron Guzikowski, the visionary behind the highly lauded film Prisoners, will serve as showrunner as well as a writer. The series is being produced by Scott's Scott Free Productions in association with Turner's Studio T and Madhouse Entertainment, with Scott, Guzikowski, David W. Zucker (The Man in the High Castle) and Jordan Sheehan (The Terror), and Madhouse Entertainment's Adam Kolbrenner (Prisoners) and Robyn Meisinger (Prisoners) serving as executive producers. The International rights to the series will be distributed through Turner International.

Jessica Biel will star in Limetown, a 10-episode series order for Facebook, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series is based on the 2015 podcast of the same name. 

Earlier this summer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt appeared on stage during Logic's Madison Square Garden concert, and teased a new kind of collaboration. Today, Gordon-Levitt's online creative platform, HITRECORD, and YouTube Originals announced a new, one-hour television special featuring Logic. This one-of-a-kind special will document the creative process as Logic invites people around the world to collaborate with him to create an original song and music video.

CBS today announced an all-star lineup of Drew Barrymore, RuPaul Charles, James Corden and Faith Hill for THE WORLD'S BEST, a new global talent competition series from two of the most prolific unscripted producers in television, Mike Darnell (“American Idol” and “Ellen's Game of Games”) and Mark Burnett (SURVIVOR, “The Voice”).

Fox will team up with Nick Cannon for a weekly late-night series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Talking Dead executive producer Michael Davies is also signed on to produce.

Governor Phil Murphy highlighted the economic benefits of the Garden State Film and Digital Media Jobs Act on Friday, Oct. 5 as he visited the set of NBC and Universal Television's 'The Enemy Within,' the first production to begin filming in New Jersey since the act became law in July. Matt Corman, an executive producer of 'The Enemy Within,' introduced the governor.
