CBS today announced the director, head writer, assistant director and the newly created writers' room for the 2019 CBS DIVERSITY SKETCH COMEDY SHOWCASE.

The multi-genre ensemble DeVotchKa have announced new Midwest tour dates in support of the critically acclaimed album This Night Falls Forever. These dates follow a line of performances across the US and Europe. Tickets go on sale Thursday, December 20. Neyla Pekarek, formerly of The Lumineers, is confirmed as the supporting act and this will be her live debut as a solo artist.

After sitting out the Fall leg of the group's recent co-headlining tour with Breaking Benjamin, Jeremy underwent a second back surgery and will need a significant amount of time to recover; the band fully supports his decision.

Atwood & Seely - who've accompanied each other many times over the years on the Grand Ole Opry stage - performed a duet of Bill Gaither's gospel classic “There's Something About That Name' at Lipscomb University's Allen Arena for the Fifth Annual 'Nashville Senior Christmas ShinnDig.'

Cringe Productions announces that eleven Boston rock bands will gather to play NOT A WASTED NIGHT, a benefit concert for Chris Doherty, founder of hardcore band GangGreen. The line-up features fan favorites including The Dogmatics, Evan Dando (The Lemonheads), The F.U.'s, The Outlets, Slapshot, Springa (of SSD), TREE, Unnatural Axe, White Dynomite, Worm, and the Skate to Hell Band (featuring former members of GangGreen). The concert takes place at The Paradise rock club, located at 969 Commonwealth Avenue in Boston. Doors open at 6pm. SiriusXM announced today that it will broadcast exclusive concerts, DJ sets, and special performances live on New Year's Eve.

Science Channel's longest-running and most popular space series is rocketing back after the new year to shed new light on a host of new celestial mysteries. HOW THE UNIVERSE WORKS returns for its seventh season as astronomers and experts examine Neutron Stars, Supernovas, Interstellar Space, the Big Bang, and more. The new season blasts off Tuesday, January 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. 

60 MINUTES was the # 1 non-sports program for the week.  The CBS News magazine drew a season-best 14.55 million viewers to land at # 3, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Dec. 16.  It was ninth time in 12 weeks that 60 MINUTES made the Top 10 -- six times at # 5 or better -- and the broadcast's best delivery in viewers since March.

Eko, the trailblazing leader in interactive video entertainment and storytelling, announces Timeline, a digital adventure series produced by Will Gluck's Olive Bridge Entertainment and developed in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment. Created and written by two-time Blacklist screenwriter Neal Dusedau, executive produced by Scott S. Kramer for Olive Bridge, and directed entirely by Kimmy Gatewood (GLOW), the series will consist of four, 15-minute episodes that invite viewers to influence and experience the storyline through Eko's patented, next-generation interactive streaming technology. Timeline, launching in 2019, was developed under the auspices of a strategic joint venture between Walmart and Eko, dedicated to original, interactive video entertainment.

The Portland-based indie folk group Shook Twins have announced the release date of their 4th full length album, Some Good Lives, out February 15, 2019 via Dutch Records.  In anticipation of the release, Shook Twins have shared the video for the track “Stay Wild.”

Fort Lauderdale, Florida is making its name in the music festival world with Riptide Music Festival. The three-day festival takes place on Fort Lauderdale Beach and features over thirty bands that audiences can enjoy while taking in the incredible sights of the Atlantic Ocean. I was able to attend the second day of the festival, which showcased many alternative rock bands and performers. The first night showcased “Classic Hits” and the following two nights were “Alternative.” This variation of performers allowed for different types of music fans to attend the festival and to be able to pick which day would be best for them.

The Independent Counsel of Funk, the project spearheaded by Joe Scarborough of the critically acclaimed hit MSNBC Morning Joe show, today releases a new holiday-themed EP I Don't Want to Go Home for Christmas via Sony's RED MUSIC. CLICK HERE to listen to the band's latest collection of original songs that Scarborough wrote, arranged, and produced. Rebel Wilson is set to star alongside David Wenham in the Australian drama series “Les Norton,” according to Variety. The show is adapted from the novels of Robert G. Barrett and is presented by The Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Screen Australia.
