Indie Memphis is excited to announce the return of the Indie Memphis Black Filmmaker Residency for Screenwriting, supported by the Remembering George Riley Fund. The 2019 Resident will be selected by Academy Award-winning screenwriter/director, Barry Jenkins and will receive two months housing in Memphis, a $7,500 unrestricted cash grant, professional support, and round-trip travel accommodations. Their screenplay must be for a feature-length film to be produced in Memphis. 

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member and world-renowned Nashville-based keyboardist Reese Wynans releases his first-ever solo album Sweet Release today; a collection of songs honoring a paramount selection of blues-rock legends. The much anticipated album comes following a career that's spanned over 50 years and literally hundreds of historical collaborations. Sweet Release also serves as Joe Bonamassa's inaugural credit as a producer. Bonamassa has long been a fan of Wynans' work, urging him to create a solo album and championing the project as producer. Cardi B has released her new video for her latest single, “Please Me” with Bruno Mars. THE TWILIGHT ZONE will debut with two episodes on Monday, April 1. Following the series premiere, new episodes of the anthology series will be available on demand weekly on Thursdays beginning April 11, exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers.

Katherine Helmond, the Tony-nominated and Emmy-nominated actress, has passed away February 23 of Alzheimer's complications at her home in Los Angeles, according to Deadline. She was 89.

Science Channel will commemorate the one-year anniversary of the passing of one the greatest scientific minds the world has ever known, theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, with a two-hour special that explores his connection to Albert Einstein, and their enormous influence on our understanding of the Universe. Einstein's general theory of relativity laid the groundwork for much of modern physics, including Hawking's work on black holes and the Big Bang. Hawking's landmark best seller, A Brief History of Time, introduced these theories in layman's terms to a mass audience, catapulting Hawking to a level of science superstardom not seen since Einstein. Disney has released a brand-new featurette highlighting Tim Burton's live-action reimagining of the beloved classic story “Dumbo.”

In 1989, the media dubbed them the Central Park Five and they were forever linked together by that moniker. On May 31, their true story will come to Netflix as a four-part limited series from Academy Award® Nominee and two-time Emmy Award® Winner Ava DuVernay.  Now titled When They See Us, the series is based on the stories of the five men who were wrongly accused of a crime they did not commit.
