The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today that its 2019 Sundance Film Festival, which took place in Park City, Salt Lake City and Sundance, Utah from January 24 through February 3, generated a total economic impact of $182.5 million for the state of Utah. These numbers come from an economic impact study conducted by Y² Analytics, an independent market research and data analytics group now in their third year analyzing the full impact of the Festival, giving a full and consistent picture of the Festival's year-over-year economic benefits to the state's economy. This total is in addition to the economic impact of Sundance Institute's additional year round Utah-based programs, such as the Artist Labs and Summer Film Series.  

The Country Music Association invites those interested in pursuing a career in the Country Music industry to apply for the 2020 Rob Potts International Exchange Program. The four-week industry-focused program, which honors the memory of the late Australian promoter Rob Potts, will select two recipients—one from the United States and one from Australia/New Zealand.   

Twain has announced new tour dates supporting Deer Tick on the 'Road to Newport' (Folk Festival) at the end of July. The shows come among a busy summer for Twain, who will be on the road with The Milk Carton Kids, Ryley Walker and Langhorne Slim from June to August; the full itinerary is below.

MGM has announced that it will produce a feature film based on the life of singer Boy George, according to Deadline. The film will be written and directed by Sacha Gervasi (My Dinner with Herve, Anvil: The Story of Anvil) and produced by Kevin King Templeton (Creed I & II) and Paul Kemsley. George and Jessica de Rothschild will executive produce.

THE GOOD FIGHT is coming to Sundays on CBS. The network will offer a special event broadcast run of season one of the acclaimed CBS All Access series, beginning Sunday, June 16 on the CBS Television Network. The drama, from Robert and Michelle King, follows character favorites from “The Good Wife” and was CBS All Access' first original drama series. THE GOOD FIGHT just aired its third season on the digital streaming service and was recently renewed for a fourth.

Craft Recordings is proud to reissue The Country Blues of John Lee Hooker, a showcase of traditional (folk/country) sound and one-chord blues all withJohn Lee Hooker's smooth baritone vocals. Unaccompanied and playing acoustic instead of his usual amplified guitar, Hooker recorded a wonderfully varied set of deep Delta blues, moans, boogies, one field holler, and even a bit of hokum. Due out August 2nd, The Country Blues of John Lee Hooker was cut from the original master tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl and housed in a tip-on jacket, these recordings are stripped down so the listener can hear the details and nuances from the original recording.

Vishaal Reddy, queer, South Asian, actor, writer, and producer, will be premiering his debut miniseries Insomnia on Wednesday, June 5. Consisting of six episodes, they will be released weekly on Wednesdays and available to watch via YouTube and insomniatheshow.com.

The National Board of Review announced today that it will release its 2019 honorees on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. The gala to celebrate this year's group of lauded filmmakers will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2020. The celebration will be held at Cipriani's 42nd Street in New York City, where it has taken place for over a decade. NBC News and MSNBC's Willie Geist will return to host the evening.

Today, PBS KIDS announced the animated series ELINOR WONDERS WHY, set to premiere Labor Day 2020. ELINOR WONDERS WHY aims to encourage children to follow their curiosity, ask questions when they don't understand and find answers using science inquiry skills. The main character Elinor, the most observant and curious bunny rabbit in Animal Town, will introduce kids ages 3-5 to science, nature and community through adventures with her friends. This new multiplatform series, created by Jorge Cham and Daniel Whiteson and produced in partnership with Pipeline Studios, will debut nationwide on PBS stations, the PBS KIDS 24/7 channel and PBS KIDS digital platforms.

NBC (8.445 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) was the network to beat on Monday thanks to the return of 'America's Got Talent' (9.741 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) and the debut of 'Songland' (5.852 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2).
