The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) sent a memo to members on Wednesday, March 25 discussing how to support members who are facing the impact of the coronavirus crisis, according to Variety. In the memo, sent from BAFTA chair Dame Pippa Harris and chief executive Amanda Berry, the Academy said it is looking to make film and television content from last year's awards season available online.

AMC announced today that it has greenlit National Anthem, an 8-episode anthology series created by writer/director Scott Z. Burns (The Report, Contagion) and executive produced by Oscar® and Emmy® Award-winner Mark Johnson (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Rectify, Rain Man, The Natural, Bugsy).  The musical dramedy is the first series greenlit under Johnson's multi-year overall deal with AMC Studios, through which he will continue to develop new series for the company's Entertainment Group as well as projects for potential sale to other content companies. National Anthem is the tragically funny story of a middle class midwestern family tumbling down the ladder of American society; periodically bursting into song as they struggle to catch themselves.  Award-winning musician T Bone Burnett (Crazy Heart, The Hunger Games) is attached as the series' music producer with words and music by Craig Finn (The Hold Steady).

Warner Bros. announced today that the release of the film adaptation of In the Heights has been postponed indefinitely. According to Variety, the film, which was scheduled to be released on June 26, remains undated for now as Warner Bros. is now looking for a new time to release In the Heights.

Please be advised that Josh Groban's Great Big Radio City Show, scheduled to take place at Radio City Music Hall on Saturday, April 18, 2020 has been postponed to Monday, October 5, 2020. Tickets for the April 18 show will be valid for the performance on October 5.

In late-night ratings results for the week of March 16-20 “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” has delivered its highest-rated week in adults 18-49, excluding weeks of NFL boosts, since April 22-26, 2019, and its most-watched week in three months, since Dec. 16-20, according to “live plus same day” figures from Nielsen Media Research.

NBC (7.796 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) held off the competition on Monday with its duo of 'The Voice' (9.502 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) and 'Manifest' (4.383 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5).

NBC has tied for #1 in the key demographic of adults 18-49 for the primetime ratings week of March 16-22, according to “live plus same day” figures from Nielsen Media Research. NBC also tied for #1 in adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and all key adult-female demographics.

Today, the Los Angeles-based production house American Primitive debuted “Invasion Night,” the official music video for The Rentals' recent single. Created by former Buddyhead founder Travis Keller and his partners at American Primitive, including cinematographer/editor Jacob Mendel, 'Invasion Night' is a fantastical slice of Armageddon-inspired science fiction. The short film takes place just moments after a vengeful alien adversary instantly and effortlessly brings near total annihilation to our unsuspecting, naive planet. Seattle musician SYML aka Brian Fennell, like many in the arts community, was forced to cut his North American tour with Dermot Kennedy short due to the terrible COVID-19 pandemic. Seeing first-hand the effect that canceled events has had on every part of the music industry, he decided to release a three-song live session on Bandcamp with all proceeds being donated to Musicares Covid-19 Relief Fund. The tracks were recorded in February at The Nest Studios in Echo Park, Los Angeles, are out on Bandcamp and Youtube now with all DSP's to follow on April 17th. 

Today, the new Nashville-based band The Voodoo Children released the official video for 'Caroline,' the first single from their forthcoming debut EP Instant Nostalgia - Side A out this spring via Blood Bathe Records. The Voodoo Children is an ever-evolving community-based project revolving around Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, producer and visual artist JT Daly, who fronted the Nashville-based band Paper Route and more recently co-produced K. Flay's album Every Where Is Some Where, including the hit single 'Blood in the Cut' (for which Daly received Grammy nominations for Best Rock Song and Best Engineered Album).
