Hulu has renewed CASTLE ROCK for a second season. Hulu's senior vice president and head of content Craig Erwich tells Variety that the anthology drama will return with a “wholly original” story in its second year.

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY announces Ethan Peck as the newest addition to the series. Peck will star as 'Spock,' the half human, half Vulcan Science Officer of the U.S.S. Enterprise, and foster brother of 'Michael Burnham.'

During the week of Aug. 6, 2018, ABC's “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” grew for the 2nd consecutive week in Total Viewers (+6% - 1.906 million vs. 1.805 million) and Adults 18-49 (+9% - 509,000 vs. 466,000) to 9-week highs – since an NBA Finals-led week in June (w/o 6/4/18). In fact, excluding June's NBA Finals weeks, “Kimmel” delivered its strongest performance since mid-April among Adults 18-49 – since the week of 4/16/18.

Featuring the Monday premiere of “Bachelor in Paradise” and the return of “The Proposal,” ABC ranked No. 1 on Monday in Adults 18-49 (1.0/5 tied with NBC) to stand as the top broadcaster for the 10th week in a row, while doubling Fox's original lineup (+100% - 0.5/2 for “So You Think You Can Dance”).  

Orion Classics has acquired all North American and Latin American rights to the upcoming drama JINN.  Written and directed by Nijla Mu'min (Dream), the film stars Zoe Renee (BET's The Quad), Simone Missick (Netflix's The Defenders), Kelvin Harrison, Jr. (Monsters and Men, Luce), Dorian Missick (Lucky Number Slevin), Hisham Tawfiq (NBC's The Blacklist) and Kelly Jenrette (Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale). JINN made its world premiere at this year's SXSW Film Festival where it won the Special Jury Award for writing. The film also won awards at the American Black Film Festival for Best Screenplay and Best Actor (Zoe Renee), the Blackstar Film Festival for Best Feature Narrative and Audience Award and at the Roxbury Film Festival for Best Narrative Feature. Orion Classics will release the drama in theaters on November 15th and on VOD and Digital HD on November 16th. 

Saban Films has acquired U.S. distribution rights to the THE SUPER starring Val Kilmerand John Flueger, according to Variety.

 Investigation Discovery (ID), the leading destination for true-crime programming, announced today the world premiere of the new series TWISTED SISTERS, with one of America's most well-known sisters, at the helm.  Produced by 44 Blue Productions, and Khlomoney Entertainment, and executive produced by Khloé Kardashian, and Stephanie Noonan Drachkovitch, the six-part series, TWISTED SISTERS will premiere on ID this LABOR DAY, MONDAY SEPTEMBER 3 AT 10/9C.  Following this special world premiere, the series will air every Monday at 10/9C.

TLC announced today it has renewed hit freshman series DR. PIMPLE POPPER with new episodes slated to air in January 2019. The series has ranked #1 with W25-54 in its Wednesday 10:00 p.m. time period since its premiere on July 11. TLC's hit digital series Dr. Pimple Popper: This is Zit has driven millions of views across Facebook Watch and TLC GO.

TV One announced today that production is underway in Atlanta, GA on a new original holiday film, Coins For Christmas. Starring Essence Atkins ('Marlon,' 'Are We There Yet?'), Coins For Christmas tells the story of single mother, Madison Morris, who is struggling to make ends meet - just two weeks before Christmas. A chance encounter leads her on a new path. Atkins stars opposite Stephen Bishop ('Imposters,' 'Being Mary Jane'), who plays Alec Darby, a former pro athlete who is also not doing well financially. The film is slated to premiere on TV One in December.

NBC News' TODAY was the number-one morning show last week, topping ABC's Good Morning America in the key A25-54 and A18-49 demos. For 137 straight weeks, TODAY has won A25-54, delivering its best streak in six years. Among A18-49,TODAY has been number-one for 156 of the last 157 weeks. Week-over week, TODAY has grown in total viewers, delivering its best viewership in four weeks, and narrowed the gap vs. GMA by 32 %, its best in 11 weeks.

NBC was #1 in total viewers (4.9 million) against the Big 4 networks and tied for #1 in 18-49 (1.0/4). This was NBC's first Monday win in 18-49, or being tied for #1 (excluding sports programming) since May 14.

BET Networks and BLACK GIRLS ROCK!(TM) are thrilled to announce Academy Award(R) nominated actress, world-renowned rapper, songstress, and producer Queen Latifah as the host of the 2018 'BLACK GIRLS ROCK!(TM)' Awards. The Newark, New Jersey native will return to her hometown as this year's host on Sunday, August 26 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark, NJ. Created by executive producer, celebrity DJ, and women's empowerment advocate Beverly Bond, the 2018 'BLACK GIRLS ROCK!(TM)' Awards honors the groundbreaking and extraordinary achievements of Black women. The 2018 'BLACK GIRLS ROCK!(TM)' Awards will premiere on Sunday, September 9 at 8:00 PM/ET on BET.

CONAN is doing away with regular musical performances once the program switches to a a half-hour format beginning in January 2019, according to Variety. Because of this format change, producer and music booker Roey Hershkovitz will depart the show, leaving the door open for consulting work on the occasional special music episode and potential music content to appear on TeamCoco.com's digital platforms. 

Paramount decided to move forward the release date of the Mark Wahlberg-Rose Byrne comedy INSTANT FAMILY, according to Variety. The film will now be released three months earlier than scheduled, on November 16th. Now set for a holiday release, it was previously set for February 15, 2019.

Michael Angarano has been announced to play Nicky, Jack's brother on THIS IS US season three, according to Deadline. The show will meet Nicky when it goes back in time to Vietnam to chronicle Jack's time during the war. 

On Monday night, Nicki Minaj appeared as a guest on THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT. While on the show, Minaj adds to the long list of men she disses in 'Barbie Dreams' from her new album 'Queen': Stephen Colbert.
