It is with great sadness that The Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts  bids a fond farewell to not only one of the world's greatest singers to ever live, but also to a fellow Detroiter and friend of Music Hall - Miss Aretha Franklin.

Paramount Worldwide Acquisitions announced today that it has acquired the North American rights to the Sarah Jessica Parker (“Divorce,” “Sex and the City”) drama HERE AND NOW (formerly titled Blue Night).  The film will be distributed by Paramount Home Media Distribution on Digital and VOD beginning November 9, 2018, the same day that it will debut in theaters from AMBI Distribution.

Freeform has announced that Good Trouble, the Fosters spin-off, will premiere in January 2019.

Netflix welcomes Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated writer and producer Kenya Barris. Barris has entered into a multi-year overall deal to produce new series exclusively at Netflix, starting today, August 16. Under the deal, Barris will write and executive produce all projects through his production company, Khalabo Ink Society.

Outfest, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization promoting equality by creating, sharing, and protecting LGBTQ stories on the screen announced today that they are partnering with Anthony Meindl and his highly regarded acting workshop. Executive Director of Outfest, Christopher Racster approached Mr. Meindl to start this initiative that will provide five scholarships to trans and non-binary individuals to train at the Actor Workshop. Details of this program is currently being constructed and the projected launch of submissions is in early fall 2018.

Premium television network EPIX has greenlit an all-new original docuseries Unprotected Sets, which will premiere Friday, October 5 at 11 PM ET/PT.  From executive producers Wanda Sykes and Page Hurwitz (Push It Productions), Barry Poznick, President of MGM's Unscripted Television and MGM Television, the series will take a raw, unfiltered look at stand up through the eyes of the funniest up and coming comedians from across the country.  The series will shoot in Portland, San Diego, Washington, D.C., Minneapolis and Atlanta.   Hurwitz will be the series showrunner.

 FOX News Channel (FNC) has named Porter Berry Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of FOX News Digital, announced Jay Wallace, President of FOX News and Executive Editor. In this role, Berry will oversee all FOX News digital content, including FOXNews.com, FOXBusiness.com and the FOX News apps.

Brandi Carlile performed "Hold Out Your Hand" on last night's episode of "Full Frontal With Samantha Bee."  The song's official music video was filmed earlier this year during Seattle's March For Our Lives.
