The 28th Annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF) has announced that acclaimed artists Ava DuVernay and Kenya Barris will join festival creative director Issa Rae for “Creator Conversations.” The live event will be held on Friday, June 14th at the New World Center. The 2024 Creator Conversations program is the first of its kind, celebrating the careers of extraordinary artists. This year’s festival takes place live in Miami Beach June 12-16.

The nonprofit Sundance Institute has announced the 10 producers selected to participate in its annual Producers Lab, being held June 10–22 for the first time at Ucross Foundation in Wyoming where they host artists throughout the year. The Producers Program reflects the Institute’s long-standing commitment to increasing support for independent producers and champions the current and rising generation of producers year-round.

CMA Fest, the largest and longest-running Country Music festival in the world, hosted its 51st celebration in Nashville this past weekend, running from Thursday, June 6 through Sunday, June 9, ushering in the next 50 years of Country Music connection between artists and their fans. The dB’s have announced their first set of tour dates in 12 years and featuring all original members – Peter Holsapple (vox, guitar), Chris Stamey (vox, guitar), Gene Holder (bass) and Will Rigby (drums). The foursome grew up in Winston-Salem, NC, and helped define what would become the rich North Carolina indie-rock scene but emigrated to New York in the late 1970s and formed the band, frequently appearing at CBGB, Maxwell’s, and other influential venues.

Deadline has reported that Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will be writing new songs for the upcoming animated film Oh, the Places You’ll Go!  based on the Dr. Seuss classic. Pasek and Paul are the Tony Award-winning songwriters behind such shows as Dear Evan Hansen, Dogfight, and A Christmas Story. The film already has theatrical roots in director Jon M. Chu, who is helming the forthcoming Wicked films.

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced and detailed the DVD, Blu-ray, and Limited Edition Blu-ray Steelbook release of the final season of Star Trek: Discovery. These 4-disc DVD and Blu-ray™ collections include every adventure-filled episode and nearly 2 hours of special features, including featurettes, audio commentary, a gag reel, and more. They will be released on August 27.

Japanese rock band ONE OK ROCK have announced that they will release a new single “Delusion:All” on July 12th, 2024. This new single will also serve as the theme song for the upcoming movie “Kingdom IV: Return of the Great General,” which will be released in Japanese cinemas on July 12th and features in the official trailer.

In a new interview as part of Deadline's Sound and Screen Television, Tony-award-winning songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul praised Steve Martin's performance singing 'Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It' from Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building. The song, written in collaboration with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, was helmed for the in-universe musical Death Rattle Dazzle starring Martin's character, Charles-Haden Savage.
