The Outre Theatre Company presents the first production of its 2017/18 season, George Orwell's 1984, in its new home at the recently opened Pompano Beach Cultural Center. The play 1984 is based on George Orwell's dystopian novel published in 1949. In 2005 the novel was chosen by Time magazine as one of the 100 best English-language novels. Many of its terms and concepts, such as Big Brother, doublethink, thoughtcrime, cold war, and Newspeak have permanently entered into common use since its first publication.

New City Players presents the comedy Twelfth Night (also known as What You Will) by William Shakespeare published in his 1623 First Folio. The first recorded performance was on February 2, 1602, at Candlemas, the formal end of Christmastide in the year's calendar. The play expands on plot elements drawn from the short story Of Apollonius and Silla by Barnabe Rich, based on a story by Matteo Bandello. Observant theatre goers may recognize the exact same plot from movies such as Just One of the Guys (1985), and She's the Man (2006).

Entre'Acte Theatrix presents The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at The PGA Arts Center. Based upon C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E, an original improvisational play created by Rebecca Feldman, the musical was conceived of by Rebecca Feldman, and features music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin, and additional material by Jay Reiss

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts presents the Broadway Across America production of the musical Finding Neverland featuring music and lyrics by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kenned, and a book by James Graham. The musical stage adaptation is inspired by the 1998 play The Man Who Was Peter Pan by Allan Knee, and his 2004 film adaptation Finding Neverland.

Direct from NYC, Empire Stage presents the South Florida premiere of Thank You For Being a Friend - A Golden Girls Musical Parody, written and directed by Nick Brennan. This new musical is a parody of the classic 1980's Television sitcom, The Golden Girls.

The Adrienne Arsht Center and Broadway in Miami are pleased to announce that tickets for the Miami engagement of the hit Broadway musical ON YOUR FEET! - based on the life story of seven-time GRAMMY® winning international superstar Gloria Estefan and her husband, 19-time GRAMMY® winning producer-musician-entrepreneur Emilio Estefan - will go on sale FRIDAY, JULY 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. The first national tour will celebrate its Grand Opening in the Estefans' home city of Miami, Florida at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County from October 5-15, 2017.

Audiences looking for laughter this summer will find it at the PGA Arts Center when comediennes Caryn Bark, Pam Peterson, and Jan Slavin take the stage in Funny Old Broads, which will open on July 6th, and run through July 30th.  The show is part of the PGA Arts Center's Summer Series. 

The Wick Theatre proudly presents Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Based on the 1991 Academy Award-winning animated feature film, the musical features music by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Wolverton. The stage version of Beauty and the Beast includes memorable new songs in addition to familiar ones from the animated version such as "Be Our Guest", "Gaston", and the title song "Beauty and the Beast".

MNM Productions presents Monty Python's Spamalot at the Kravis Center of the Performing Arts. Featuring music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, and book and lyrics by Eric Idle, Monty Python's Spamalot is a musical comedy lovingly ripped-off from the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The title of the musical comes from a line in the movie which goes: 'we eat ham, and jam, and Spam a lot.' Like the film, written by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin, it is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian Legend, but it differs from the film in many ways

Broadway Across America - Ft. Lauderdale presents the Farewell Tour of the smash hit musical Mamma Mia! at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. 20 year old Sophie is planning to marry, and wants her father to be present to give her away. Unfortunately, she does not know who her father is. After reading her mother's diary, she concludes he is one of three men, so she invites all of them to her wedding, on the Greek Island on which she lives with her still single mother, in the hopes of sorting it out.

The farewell tour of the hit musical, MAMMA MIA!, based on the songs of ABBA, returns to Fort Lauderdale in May of 2017.
