As previously reported, the Tony Awards Administration Committee determined that Best Sound Design of a Play and Best Sound Design of a Musical Categories would be eliminated from the established list of competitive categories, beginning with the 2014-2015 season. The Tony Administration Committee may bestow a Special Tony Award to a production when it determines that extraordinary sound design has been achieved.

The partners of 13 years, who consider NYC their second home, got married at Cop Cot in Central Park surrounded by family and friends. Some of these friends happened to double as Broadway stars, so the wedding was inevitably filled with singing, dancing, and showtunes.

Messy, raw, and honest, Splintered Spark Collective explores this handprint we leave smeared on the sidewalks of each other's veins and painted on the windows of the world. 'Poetry in Motion; Poetry in Devotion' is an original and collaborative poetry piece that dives into the colored feelings that inhabit our bones. The newly formed theatre company, Splintered Spark Collective, grew out of the creation of the show Poetry in Motion at CSU Long Beach, where the founder/director Lottie Frick felt the creative journey needed to be continued at the 2014 Hollywood Fringe Festival.

The Broadway vet may be set to take her final bow as Madame Arcati in West End's Blithe Spirit this weekend, but she has already expressed interest in taking on Enid Bagnold's THE CHALK GARDEN as her next project. 'I like the idea of doing Enid Bagnold's THE CHALK GARDEN,' she told the Telegraph. 'Now that is an interesting play. I also rather fancy the idea of a Restoration comedy.'

Once a month, you can kick off your Today evening at Le Carre Parisien, a typical Parisian cafe and cave-a-vins, with a cabaret concert by a featured performer, followed by an open mic, where some of the best local artists gather to belt out their favorite Broadway show tunes. Broadway au Carre also features a new musical theatre composer each month, with a set of songs that have never been performed in Europe before. The list of featured composers this season includes Will Van Dyke, Daniel Mate, Andrew Byrne, Peter Saxe, Niko Tsakalakos, Scott Burkell and Paul Loesel, among others.

From September 12, 2014 through February 1, 2015, the Jewish Museum will present From the Margins: Lee Krasner l Norman Lewis, 1945-1952, a survey of key 1940s and 1950s works by these two powerful painters.This was a transformative period in American painting when both artists were experimenting with approaches that joined abstraction and cultural specificity.

Slipstream Theatre Initiative excitedly says "Hello" to the Detroit Area Theatre Scene! Slipstream is a new company founded in Ferndale and focuses on current takes on classical works as well as featuring original works by local playwrights. The mission is simple: use a core ensemble of actors and focus on the intent of the playwright while making viable,contemporary and thought provoking art. The company utilizes some of Detroit's well known talent (as well as several newcomers), a minimalistic technical approach and the area's most unique spaces to cross the divide between old and new. Slipstream will work in conjunction with several companies in the area and is set to perform on most theaters' "dark" nights, offering a weeknight outing for an affordable price while leaving the weekends free for more established companies' seasons. Based in Ferndale but using different venues around the area to suit each show, Slipstream promises to make you rethink what makes something "classical" and what defines "contemporary."

Improvisational hip-hop troup, Freestyle Love Supreme, participated in a virtual round table discussion on Wednesday with Future of Storytelling (FoST), where members discussed their best moments on stage. The group performs at various venues in NYC, and even appears on the Pivot Network in a ten-episode series that exposes the nation to the much talked about live show. On stage, five performers, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Chris Jackson, Chris 'Shockwave' Sullivan, Andrew Bancroft, Arthur Lewis, and Bill Sherman, take the crowd on a non-stop hip-hop improv ride, spinning cues from the audience into instantaneous riffs and fully realized musical numbers.

Mercury Theater Chicago, 3745 N. Southport Avenue, has announced the extension of its home- grown version of the hilarious Broadway musical Avenue Q through July 27, 2014 due to popular demand. Avenue Q has broken all box office records for Mercury Theater Chicago. Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribune described the show as 'delightfully sweet and vulnerable...could not be more fun or charming to watch!' and the Chicago Sun Times Highly Recommends the show saying its 'better than the Broadway original!' Winner of the Tony 'Triple Crown' for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book in 2004, Avenue Q is part flesh, part felt, and packed with heart. The production is led by Jeff Award winners L. Walter Stearns (Director), Eugene Dizon (Musical Direction), and Kevin Bellie (Choreography) and features custom made puppets by Russ Walko.
