CHICAGO Hits Cincinnati Thru 12/6December 3, 2009The merry murderesses Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart are in Cincinnati this week for a short engagement at the Aronoff Center through December 6th. One of my favorite musicals that somehow seems to continue to run, I was excited to see it once again.
RECAP: Wicked Divas Murney & Hilty Rock CincinnatiNovember 17, 2009This past weekend, Cincinnati had the chance to see two divas for the price of one as Broadway stars Julia Murney and Megan Hilty stepped in to replace Kristin Chenoweth, who was forced to cancel her engagement with the Cincinnati Pops on November 13th, 14th, and 15th, due to illness. Under the direction of Steven Reineke, the format was reworked into an evening in honor of divas from pop music, opera, and Broadway.
Hilty & Murney Cover for an Ailing Chenoweth at Cincinnati Pops Concert, 11/13 - 11/15November 12, 2009Due to illness, celebrated actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth is not able to perform as scheduled for the November 13, 14 and 15 Cincinnati Pops Orchestra concerts at Music Hall. Megan Hilty and Julia Murney, who have performed the signature roles of Glinda and Elphaba respectively in the Broadway hit musical Wicked, have graciously agreed to step in and perform in a program dubbed "Wicked Divas" with Steven Reineke and the Pops. The three concerts will take place as originally scheduled.
Reflections on RENT National TourNovember 2, 2009What more can be said about a multiple award-winning show that ran for over 12 years on Broadway? The answer is probably not much. No matter how many times I see this show, every viewing of Rent never fails to remind me that there really is 'no day but today.' 'Rent: The Broadway Tour' opened its limited engagement run October 28th at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, and I could not pass up the opportunity to see it one last time, especially with the chance to see three original Broadway cast members, Anthony Rapp (Mark), Adam Pascal (Roger) and Gwen Stewart (Mrs. Jefferson and others).
