The show’s depiction of high school life was completely accurate (just like the movie). And the lessons Tina Fey wrote into the script were as important as ever. The stage came to life with teenage energy and angst, along with some incredible dance numbers!

I would highly encourage you to head out and see this timely production. As per usual, Classic gets it right and presents an excellent and thought-provoking experience. 

San Antonio, you haven’t seen anything like this, so I encourage you not to miss it. It’ll rain a little (literally onstage) and you might get a drop on your shoe if you sit in the front row. Totally worth it! Get out next weekend and see the final show in The Overtime’s current location, Threes!

This show is a must-see for elementary school age kids and their adults. Everyone will be able to relate to someone in the story just like I did, and what an important message to ponder.

What a triumph. San Antonio, you have through September 29 to see this remarkable production. Do it. This one is truly special and something you will absolutely not want to miss.

In June, we were able to have an epic date night watching the Ballet Folklorico at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. We were simply amazed by the production and how the audience responded with such joy and pride to all the color, movement, and cultural storytelling. What a joy, then, on Saturday to experience a performance such as this again right here in San Antonio!

San Antonio's Classic Theatre presents the world premiere of its new bilingual adaptation of The Fantasticks, The Fantastikos, which they have been granted special permission from Music Theatre International to produce. It runs through September 29, and you will not want to miss the unique opportunity of witnessing its first-ever beautiful run! 

Judgement of the Eye at The Overtime Theatre plays through Sept. 7. Director Blake Hamman and the entire company should feel wildly proud of this riveting and polished production! San Antonio, you should head on out to The Overtime Theatre and check it out!

The show is a satirical take on Shakespeare’s Macbeth. It really follows the theme that our human folly, ambition, and greed can often be the fall of greatness.

What an amazing show that you need to get out and see! Your heart will need this journey to see the great Oz just like mine did. You have until August 4th to check it out!

I had the absolute delight of interviewing Jenny Lavery, the director of San Pedro Playhouse’s upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz. She had such a warm spirit and such a great love for the story and meaning behind the show, which will be showing July 12 - August 4. Here’s what she had to say.

We could all use some moments with a little silliness and laughter. And that’s exactly what you’ll get watching Clue at San Antonio’s Majestic Theatre. 

San Antonio’s Teatro Audaz will begin work on a new play, Bernarda!, this summer. This play written by Emilio Williams, is an adaptation of Federico Garcia Lorca’s play, The House of Bernarda Alba.

Teatro Audaz lived up to its name this last weekend in its production of The House That Sex Built by Rita Anderson. Only a bold, audacious group like Teatro could take on a script like this.

This play did the most powerful thing that a play can do. It showed us a picture of the truth. The joyous, horrific, wondrous, terrifying, painful truth.

Overall, this show was wildly enjoyable and masterfully done! I especially appreciated that Rick Sanchez kept his vision to the classic style of the musical and gave the audience the beautiful production they expected to see. 

The collaborative nature of so many creative artists allowed this production to showcase fun new technology that helped this story come to life in such a playful way.

I was so excited to interview Jimmy Moore, the Producing Artistic Director of the San Pedro Playhouse. He and his team specifically scheduled The Boys in the Band to coincide with pride month to celebrate the experiences of the gay community, and he was excited to let me know that the show  is about to become an official pride month event in San Antonio!

The story in this adaptation was told distinctly and clearly within a culture of current language mixed with classic Shakespeare verse, a little Spanglish, and against the backdrop of a wonderful set design by Anthony Claravino that represented the Hot Wells ruins from south San Antonio. The colorful sights and sounds of the ballet folklorico and music, composed by Jaime Ramirez, danced around all of this humor and action creating a perfectly magical evening for all who attended.
