NYC Landmark and Broadway Celebration Staple, Tavern on the Green, Closes its DoorsDecember 30, 2009Yahoo News is reporting that New York City Landmark and former home to many a Broadway Opening night party is closing its doors after 75 years. According to the report, whereas the Central Park restaurant was just three years ago the second highest grossing restaurant in the United States, taking in approximately $38 million annually by serving more than 700,000 meals, the venue has been unable to get out of bankruptcy court of late (Chapter 11 was filed in September of this year).
Susan Boyle to Duet with Opera Star Andrea Bocelli; Serenades Japan New Years Eve December 30, 2009Scottish songbird Susan Boyle will join famed opera tenor Andrea Bocelli, who has sold a record 70 million albums, on stage in a duet to be aired as part of a new British TV talent show called Pop Star to Opera Star, the UK Daily Mail reports. On the show, pop singers are trained to sing arias. Though there is no word yet on the song selection, it is expected that they will perform on of Grammy-winning Bocelli's most famous numbers -Time to Say Goodbye or The Prayer, which he last performed with Celine Dion.

THE ADDAMS FAMILY Cancels First Three Broadway Previews; Performances Now Begin Mar. 8, 2010December 29, 2009The New York Times is reporting that Tony-winner Jerry Zaks has officially been brought in to take over and to supervise THE ADDAMS FAMILY. Zaks will be billed as the show's 'Creative Consultant' with Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch still listed as directors and production designers, but it's been made clear that Jerry Zaks is the new man in charge.
He tells the Times that he is looking forward to 'taking this original musical to the next level.' As a result of taking this job, Zaks will no longer direct All About Me, which stars Dame Edna and Michael Feinstein.

Directed by Michael Bloom, Lost in Yonkers will run at the Millburn theater from February 17 through March 14, 2010. Lost in Yonkers was selected by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts as part of the American Masterpieces Series in New Jersey. American Masterpieces is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts.
Official opening is Sunday, February 21th at 7:00pm.
