On Sunday, August 23rd, Standing Room Only Theatre Company's Nancy S. Nocks was honored for her many contributions to SRO and the theatre community. This tribute in the Shedd Theatre was a celebration of several 'hats' she has worn in her professional career (musician, director, in community, church, education, etc.) of 55 plus years. Nancy is retiring as Executive/Artistic Director of SRO as her final 'hat' to remove. Many of the guest performers and speakers worked with Nancy in the early years.

On Sunday August 9th, Imagine Productions presented a cabaret called Let's Duet Again! Featuring a night of pop duets and musical theatre. Directed by Ryan Stem and co-hosted by Doug Joseph and Nick Hardin. Bat Boy: The Musical is an American musical with a book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming and music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe, based on a June 23, 1992 Weekly World News story about a half-boy, half-bat, dubbed 'Bat Boy', who grew up living in a cave.

Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding 'Burger Palace Boys' and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking 'Pink Ladies' in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the time in this rollicking musical. Head 'greaser' Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their 'Summer Nights' as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as 'Greased Lightnin', 'It's Raining on Prom Night', and 'Alone at the Drive-In Movie'. Set in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young Millie Dillmount from Kansas who comes to New York in search of a new life for herself. Her grand plan is to find a job as a secretary for a wealthy man and then marry him. However, her plan goes completely awry. The owner of her dingy hotel kidnaps young girls to sell to the Far East; her wealthy boss is slow in proposing marriage; and the man she actually falls in love with does not have a dime to his name -or so he tells her.

Roundtown Players is proud to present 'Footloose: The Musical' this summer! This show is an adaptation of the hit 80's movie about a teenager who moves from Chicago to a small farming town that has banned dancing and rock and roll music. He hopes to shake up the town and its strict rules, much to the dismay of the local Reverend.

'Temperamentals' was a code word for homosexuals in the early 1950s, part of a created language of secret words that gay men used to communicate. The Temperamentals tells the story of two men - the communist Harry Hay and the Viennese refugee and designer Rudi Gernreich - as they fall in love while building the first gay rights organization along with Chuck Rowland, Bob Hull, and Dale Jennings, in the pre-Stonewall United States. It is a true story. This production is lovingly dedicated to the memory of Barbara Sokol.

Linda Roth returns for another memorable cabaret. Linda's appearances in Follies, Sunset Boulevard, The Great One and as the spirited Trudy in last year's Christmas at Lazarus, make her a favorite performer at Short North Stage. So have her several cabarets, most recently 'The Apple Doesn't Fall' with Johnny Steiner and her daughter Allison. We are delighted to welcome her back as she takes her audience through an evening of some of her most embarrassing moments. Maybe This Time she can redeem herself! Don't miss Linda (and some special guests) for what is sure to be evening filled with hilarity and great singing!

Join Warehouse Theatre Columbus in a rousing tribute to the American musical theatre master composer Stephen Sondheim.

Columbus Moving Company presents GLASS, a touching and dynamic tale of the fragility of life and the will to do more than simply survive. With inspiration from Justin Richards, The Glass Princess, and in collaboration with MaD Arts Group. GLASS, is the story of Princess Clio, a young girl who is poisoned and sleeps through decades of civilizations while only experiencing life through dreams in a glass stasis bed. Local composer Kevin Estes has created an original dramatic sound score written in four movements. The music includes a glass waterfall, tuned wine glasses, and an instrument made from 29 glass bottles created by Estes himself that will all be used live in performance. This unique collaboration brings movement and music together to create a stunning portrayal of youthful innocence, despair, and the will to survive the darkness of eternal rest.

Set in 1999 or so in Stony Bridge Lakes, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, BEAUTIFUL CUL DE SAC follows two families as they interact, intermingle, and intercourse their way through suburban life. This is a hilarious new musical that tackles themes of family, love, sex, and art.

Actors' Theatre of Columbus' season opens with the premiere of local playwright Vidas Barzdukas' Captain Blood. This story follows the adventures of Dr. Peter Blood who is convicted of treason for tending to the wounds of a nobleman during a rebellion against King James II in England and is sentenced to slavery on the island of Barbados. Once there, Blood finds love, escapes from slavery, and falls in with pirates, not knowing that his new career will take him back to the plantation and to the woman he left behind.

What better way to celebrate the Tony Awards than with your fellow theatre nerds! A special free event, Imagine Productions hosted the First Annual Tony Awards Watch Party on Sunday, June 7, at Wall Street Night Club.

The Fantasticks tells the story of neighboring families who stage a feud to contrive a marriage between their children. All does not go well in this comic conspiracy, and each character must come to terms with reality of their actions in the light of day. This classic musical featuring songs such as Try to Remember, They Were You, and Soon It's Gonna Rain has been delighting audiences for 50 years!
