The Little Mermaid is a stage musical produced by Disney Theatrical, based on the animated 1989 Disney film of the same name and the classic story of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen about a mermaid who dreams of the world above the sea and gives up her voice to find love. The Grandview Carriage Place Players present Meredith Willson's classic tale. The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize - despite the fact he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. Curtain Players celebrated the end of its 2017-18 season on Sunday June 24 with a party in the upper room of The Old Bag of Nails Pub in uptown Westerville.

Appearing on the English stage only five years after Mary Shelley's groundbreaking novel Frankenstein; or the Modern Prometheus, Richard Brinsley Peake's Frankenstein, or the Dangers of Presumption is the first adaptation of that venerable novel. Peake's monster is an early version of the horror that would star in more than 50 films in the last 100 years. Performed in the style of classic melodrama, including song, lovers, and spectacle, Peake's stage adaptation was the only version Shelley attended, an event which she recounted in a letter to her father, stating, "I was much amused!" Frankenstein was such a hit in the theaters that the publisher of Shelley's novel produced a second edition, and the place of that novel in the English canon was secured. Several stage imitators followed in the decade after Peake's 1823 play, but this play endures as the original stage version of Frankenstein. Performances are June 21 - July 15, 2018. Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson creators, Michael Friedman (Love's Labour's Lost, The Fortress of Solitude) and Alex Timbers (Love's Labour's Lost, Peter and the Starcatcher), cook up an alternate universe (and draw parallels to today's political/populist landscape) with their musical about the seventh U.S. president. Join us in the park! Curtain Players is pleased to present Charlotte's Web by E.B. White. The beloved children's book has been transformed into a play by Joseph Robinette. It tells the story of a young pig on the Arable family farm who is saved from slaughter. That pig, named Wilbur, tries to make friends with everyone at his new home on the Zuckerman Farm and finds comfort with his closest new friend, Charlotte, a spider. Charlotte repeatedly saves Wilbur by writing words about him in her web. The Columbus premiere of an original one-act, written and directed by Carl Burgason. A young Manhattan woman, Claire, decides to end her life by hiring a man to kill her. After her husband Leon finds out about her arrangements, the couple embarks on a six-month-long journey to figure out their past, present, and future without one another. Cast includes:  Claire - Nina Martin, Leon - Cory Velazco, and The Man - Joel Savage. This show is being presented as a part of the late-night series at MadLab. The Ohio Community Theatre Association (OCTA) held its Central Region Festival on Saturday June 2nd at Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio. This is a juried festival where the community theaters perform a portion from one of their shows from the past season. A Columbus native, Mr. Ray comes home performing in the Midwest premiere of his new play. Starring Terry Ray and Ralph Scott. Directed by Mark Phillips Schwamberger. Sex, drugs and booze make up the life of Brad Burke, while ex-seminary student Gary Henderson is so closeted that he hides his sexuality behind an invented wife. This unlikely pair hook up in a motel room after their 10-year high school reunion and it's a monumental clash of worlds that sparks an 'electricity' between them that lures them back to that same motel room after each reunion for the next 3 decades. Electricity is a very funny, sexy and surprisingly emotional journey through the immense changes that happened to the LGBTQ community between 1983 and 2013. It navigates a world where gay life was hidden in bars and sex clubs to one where equality might just be a reality--if Gary and Brad can only believe that they deserve it. SRO Theatre Company's 2017-2018 season concludes with Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's groundbreaking musical Company. On the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor, Robert, contemplates his unmarried state. Over the course of a series of dinners, drinks and even a wedding, his friends - 'those good and crazy people [his] married friends' - explain the pros and cons of taking on a spouse. The habitually single Robert is forced to question his adamant retention of bachelorhood during a hilarious array of interactions. The Tragedy of Macbeth, King of Scotland is one of a handful of William Shakespeare's plays that has never wavered in its popularity or relevance. Led by supernatural forces, Macbeth kills a king and usurps the throne, each day growing in paranoia and bloody murder. His wife, the famous Lady Macbeth, guides and goads her lord husband in his evil acts until the consequences begin to break her soul. Actors singing actresses' showstoppers, young women filling old men's roles and seniors playing ingenues. This was an evening of madcap musical magic and a hilarious mix-up of some of Columbus' best performers singing songs from roles in which they would NEVER be cast.

Grandview Carriage Place Players held a cabaret to celebrate 10 years of theatre and to raise funds for their upcoming season on Friday May 11th and Saturday May 12th at 7:00pm in the Shedd Theatre at the Columbus Performing Arts Center.

On Wednesday May 11th, 2018 Evolution Theatre Company hosted a staged reading of Charles Busch's The Lady In Question to benefit their 2018 Season. A freewheeling satire of patriotic 1940s thrillers. A glamorous concert pianist is challenged when a handsome American professor engages her aid in rescuing his mother from a Nazi prison. The reading was be held in the Schottenstein Property Group Pavilion of the Columbus Museum of Art.

A puppet-filled comedy follows a group of twenty-somethings seeking their purpose in big-city life.  Winner of the Tony "Triple Crown" for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart.
