Yesterday, July 11, Peter and the Starcatcher, the five-time Tony® Award-winning play written by Rick Elice and directed by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, celebrated its 100th performance at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. In honor of the occasion, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has officially proclaimed July 11, 2012 as "Peter and the Starcatcher Day" in New York City.

Last night, June 25, the stars of the upcoming revival of Jekyll & Hyde, Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages) and Grammy Award Nominee Deborah Cox (Aida), hosted the 4th annual National High School Musical Theater Awards at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre. The show featured 60 of America's most talented young musical theater performers vying for the "Jimmy Award" for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor. This year, Elizabeth Romero, Joshua Grosso were crowned the night's big winners. Each received $10,000 scholarship awards for their efforts. Runners up, who each recieved $2,500 in scholarships, were Evan Greenberg, Drew Shafranek, Nicolette Burton, and Erica Durham. York Theatre Company opened the first New York City revival of the classic Off-Broadway hit Closer Than Ever, with Lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and Music by David Shire, last night, June 20.

The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents and marketing firms, presented the 2nd annual Off Broadway Alliance Awards Reception yesterday, June 19th at Sardi's. The awards honor outstanding achievement in Off Broadway theater for the 2011-2012 season. Honorees were on hand to receive their awards and Howard Kissel and Theodore Mann were posthumously inducted into the Off Broadway Hall of Fame.

Last night, June 18, The Public Theater celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Delacorte Theater, home of Shakespeare in the Park, and honored Al Pacino for his body of work at The Public. The evening included a benefit reading of Romeo and Julie featuring Kevin Kline as Romeo and Meryl Streep as Juliet. On hand to celebrate were the likes of Julia Stiles, Chelsea Clinton, Steve Martin and many more who have both particiated and enjoyed the works at the Delacorte.
