The New Group presents Jesse Eisenberg's Happy Talk, with Tedra Millan, Daniel Oreskes, Nico Santos, Marin Ireland and Susan Sarandon, in this world premiere directed by Scott Elliott. The limited engagement will play through June 16 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street). Proof of Love opened just last night, May 14 at the Minetta Lane Theatre (18 Minetta Lane, between MacDougal & 6th Avenue - one block south of W. 3rd Street), Audible's creative home for live performances in New York.

The 14th annual Shubert Foundation/Music Theatre International Broadway Junior® Student Finale took place earlier today, May 14,  at Broadway's Imperial Theatre, hosted by James Harkness and Jawan M. Jackson, stars from Broadway's new hit, Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of The Temptations.

Just last night, Manhattan Theatre Club presented its annual Spring Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street (110 East 42nd Street). This year's event honored Serino Coyne Founder and Chairman Nancy Coyne for being a tireless advocate for the arts and featured performances by the casts of many of the most acclaimed musicals on Broadway including Ain't Too Proud, Be More Chill, Beetlejuice, The Cher Show, Choir Boy, Hadestown, King Kong, Pretty Woman, and Tootsie. 

MCC Theater's New York Premiere production of BLKS, written by Aziza Barnes, and directed by Robert O'Hara opened just last night, May 9, in the Newman Mills Theater at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space (511 West 52nd Street).

Continuing its 40th Anniversary Season Second Stage Theater will soon present Christopher Shinn's DYING CITY. Directed by Chris Shinn, the production will feature Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Kelly) and Colin Woodell (Craig/Peter). DYING CITY will begin previews May 14, 2019 at the Tony Kiser Theater (305 West 43rd Street) and will officially open on June 3, 2019.

Just last night, Second Stage Theater celebrated its 40th Birthday Gala with a special concert performance last night, May 6 at Hammerstein Ballroom, headlined by Emmy and Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth.

The 2019 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out last night to recipients in 19 categories, with one special award and three honorary awards also bestowed. The Lortel Awards were distributed in a ceremony at NYU Skirball Center hosted by Drama Desk Award-nominated writer and performer of The New One, Mike Birbiglia. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Theatre Foundation. Additional support is provided by TDF.

Roundabout Theatre Company will soon present the world-premiere of Toni Stone, written by Lydia R. Diamond and directed by Tony Award winner Pam MacKinnon. Toni Stone will be led by April Matthis, with Eric Berryman (Elzie), Harvy Blanks (Alberga), Phillip James Brannon (King Tut), Daniel J. Bryant (Spec), Jonathan Burke (Stretch), Toney Goins (Jimmy), Kenn E. Head (Millie), Ezra Knight (Woody).

Tony season has arrived! The nominations for the biggest Broadway awards ceremony were announced earlier this week on Tuesday, April 30. Leading the pack was Hadestown with 14 nominations. Check out the full list here!

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center just held its Monte Cristo Award Gala last night at the Edison Ballroom- an event that featured opening remarks from composer, actor and Tony Award-winner, Lin-Manuel Miranda.  Academy Award-winning actor and O'Neill Center trustee, Michael Douglas presented the iconic statue to playwright and screenwriter John Logan, at the gala evening in celebration of Logan's many achievements.

This season's new Broadway production of William Shakespeare's King Lear, starring two-time Academy Award winner, two-time Emmy Award winner, and 2018 Tony Award winner Glenda Jackson and directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, opened last night at the Cort Theatre. The production will play a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, July 7, 2019.
