The Book of Mormon is an original musical that tells the story of two young Mormon missionaries who are sent to a remote village in Uganda, where they try to share one of their scriptures, The Book of Mormon (hence the title), but have trouble connecting with the locals who are more worried about war, poverty, and AIDS than religion.

North Carolina Theatre, the region's premiere nonprofit professional regional theatre producing Broadway musical revivals, is ready to electrify audiences this February with the world's favorite musical, Grease! Set before 'the day the music died,' Buddy-The Buddy Holly Story tells the true story of rock star Buddy Holly's meteoric rise to fame in the late 1950s-before his life was cut short, along with Ritchie Valens and J.P. Richardson, in a 1959 plane crash.

Loosely based on the fictitious life of Pippin the Hunchback, this musical tells the story of the young prince Pippin, Heir to the Frankish throne, who is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father King Charlemagne the Great). In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the un-extraordinary moments that happen every day.

Next to Normal is an original musical by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey that tells the story of a mother who struggles with worsening bipolar disorder and the effect that her illness and the attempts to alleviate it have on her family. The musical also addresses such issues as grieving a loss, suicide, drug abuse, ethics in modern psychiatry, and the underbelly of suburban life.

Working Its Way Back to the Durham Performing Arts Center from April 7th-12th is the national touring production of the long-running Tony and Grammy Award-Winning smash, Jersey Boys featuring Matthew Dailey as Tommy DeVito, a role originated on Broadway by Tony Award-Winner Christian Hoff.
