Jon Robin Baitz Set to Pen New Play for Expected Broadway Run

Writer Jon Robin Baitz is currently in the works of authoring a new play about Hollywood film producer Robert Evans. Evans worked on such films as Rosemary's Baby, Love Story, The Godfather and Chinatown and was also well known for his much-publicized seven marriages. The play is expected to open during the 2010-2011 Broadway season.

Stage and screen stars Andrea Anders and Allison Janney are being tapped to star in a new ABC pilot series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series, entitled 'Mr. Sunshine,' features Anders opposite Matthew Perry's Ben, a San Diego stadium owner who comes to the realization he can no longer skirt by on his charm and good looks.

Producers Jean Doumanian and Sonia Friedman announced today that they hope to bring their Martin Luther King Jr. play, THE MOUNTAINTOP, to Broadway in fall of 2010 according to The New York Times. The play surrounds King's last nights before his assassination. The play premiered in London in summer 2009 and was written by Katori Hall.

Ellen replaced Paula Abdul, after Paula was not hired back for 'Idol's' ninth season. Ellen was a refreshing change to panel, being brutally honest to the contestants, as well as providing several amusing comments about the performances.

Stage, film, and television star Henry Winkler will join the cast of USA's 'Royal Pains' in its second summer season. Winkler will join the cast in a major role next season as Eddie R. Lawson, father of the show's two lead characters Hank and Evan Lawson, played by Mark Feuerstein and Evan Paulo Costanzo respectively. It was revealed at the end of the first season that Winkler's would be character stole all of the money from his sons' business, HankMed. The show will air on Thursdays on USA during the summer. A premiere date and time slot have yet to be announced.

The talks will be held as one-on-one conversations with Jujamcyn President, Jordan Roth, and will take place on four separate occasions from March to May. Currently scheduled for talks are Liev Schrieber, Nathan Lane, Laura Linney, and Sean Hayes.
